If my math is correct, Saturday is the earliest we could clinch. Just as well, you probably don't want to see the lineup the day after we clinch.
Unpopular opinion, but I'd probably lean more towards Kazmir than JDL if these next couple starts go well.
Only unpopular because people like to give Kazmir a hard time. Truth is, when Kazmir's control is good his movement makes him a very tough pitcher to face. I'm hoping for the best from Kazmir.
But his first rehab stint was a disaster against minor league hitting. There's no minor league games to rehab anymore. So I don't know by what metric Roberts thinks he can still pitch at the major league level during the last days of a pennant race.
It's the only chance we have to see if he has anything for the postseason. If you go with the assumption that there's no way he'd be on your postseason roster, then yeah, shut him down for the year. Dodgers must think there's some chance.
maybe they're hoping for him to throw a no-no and then opt out of his current deal slim chance of either happening
Well, per Dodger convention, if he's pitching a no-no they are required to pull him from the game. Complete game no-no's not allowed.
Yes, there was one inning, in one game. He struck out the side and looked brilliant doing it. Not Aaron Harang dominant, but you know, good.
agreed dodgers will be down before they come to bat arenado will eat anderson alive -- 1st inning hr forthcoming
