Kornheiser said on PTI that Bumgarner reminds him of what Kershaw was supposed to look like in the postseason. I just got really sad and changed the channel. I really could care less who wins anymore i just hate that Kershaw is labeled a loser now its not fair
Yeah, all the internet idiots are going to be creating choking memes of him like they do with Romo and used to do with LeBron all of the time. Sports fans aren't the brighestest people though, so we shouldn't be too offended.
Yeah. I mean, I get it though. Bumgarner has steamrolled through teams, while Kershaw gave up two leads, one which was rather large and for someone like him, should have given us the win. In sports, it's what have you done for me lately, and Kershaw got beat. Everyone kept saying he would be the difference maker for us, and instead, he lost both games. He'll be labeled a playoff choke until he gets a ring, or at the very least, beat the Cardinals in the post season.
What's the old saying? I'd rather be lucky than good? I'd take some of that luck if it meant getting a World Series.
If you look at their numbers, they are basically the same pitcher, except for the home runs, which is very significant. Otherwise, Haren had better SO/W ratio and H/9. Of course I believe Hudson is the better pitcher, I'm just saying disregard homers and they're the same, stat-wise.
That and the fact that who gives a shit. Harren didn't loose us the season. Hudson didn't get the them any where. We straight shit the bed and haren wasn't even a factor...
Luck and actually being good. People want to say that they suck because they missed the playoffs in 2011 and were terrible last year, but in '11 they lost their all star catcher and were 8 games back, and last year, yeah, they sucked, but one out of five years of having a good team isn't bad. But thy've had a good team for a few years now and they capitalize on the mistakes made by others. It sucks to see them winning like this, but they've found a formula that has put them in a position to win a third title. There's noting more we can do but hope the new owners let Friedman do his thing and put together a team that can compete and do well in the playoffs, crap shoot or not. Because next year, it won't mean anything if we're the more talented team if it amounts to another bouncing from the playoffs.
Thats the thing about averages. You can suck dong for 5 games straight, and then have 5 very good outings, and your average will even out. Or you can be consistent throughout and have the same average. Who would you rather rely on in a playoff situation in a 7 game series? But I do agree, it wasnt Haren that was a problem. The team just was the opposite of clutch when it counted most. BUT, I just wanted to point out that it seems the Giants have made the better choices personnel wise.....from coach, to GM, FAs, prospects, game time decisions, and each players approach to the game. IT SUCKS!
"Dynasty", starring a bunch of greasy looking, rather soiled appearing, unshaven, unkempt turds, that are simply the best in BB. Again. Fucking champs, again. Or very close to it. All the Hollywood glamour, all the bright white unis, all the top dollar players, all the stars in the seats, all the pop star romances, all the ERA and RBI titles....in the long run, and bottom line-doesn't mean shit. And next year, when superhuman Pagan returns and the new "best pitcher in BB" has another God-like year...and The Giant Head, containing Bochy's brain, will expand to even greater size...they very well may do it again...of course, we'll be "rebuilding" our 240 million dollar payroll team, probably having a tough time with what will undoubtably prove to be a much tougher Padres team, even maybe CO. What a fucking joke.
agreed said it before... once could be considered a fluke twice, not so much but getting there (and likely winning) 3/5 years can no longer be dismissed as luck, coincidence, whatever players have come and gone in those five the one constant is bochy
2010, they kind of dominated. Beat up on the Braves, Phillies, and Rangers without much problems. 2012 was very frustrating because they looked dead vs the Reds after dropping the first two at home, but win a 1 run extra inning game in game 3 and take all 3 in Cincinnati. Once again, they look dead in the water vs St. Louis down 3-1 with Zito pitching on the road, and he throws a shutout and they dominate game 6 and 7. At least the Tigers will save us because they're a dominating team that just swept the Yankees. Nope, Giants destroyed them. 2012 was disgusting, but this year is the biggest slap in the face of all time considering we watched our team beat them 17-0 in their park, destroy them 9-1 to clinch the division, and simply dominate them head to head down the stretch and take the division easily while they were struggling to muster up wins vs the Padres.
San Francisco's Madison Bumgarner, who pitched a four-hit shutout Sunday, says he'll be available to make a relief appearance if needed as the Giants attempt to close out the World Series on Tuesday. Bumgarner hasn't made a relief appearance since throwing two scoreless innings in Game 6 of the 2010 National League Championship Series. Bumgarner, who threw 117 pitches Sunday, wouldn't estimate how long he could go. "I'm not a big pitch-count guy," he said. "So as long as you keep getting outs and you feel good, you should stay out there." "He really bounces back well, and we wouldn't ask him to do a lot," manager Bruce Bochy told CSNBayArea.com. "But if I needed to get an out or something, I'm sure he'll say he's available." i would love it if he came in with the game on the line... and fucken blew it
Kid isn't going to have a functioning arm when he's 30 at this rate. Players aren't wired today like they used to be....but the Giants are doing everything possible to win the WS, so I can't blame them for wanting to put him out there as much as possible
