yeah, but more about respect than anything wanna kill yourself, go ahead but don't endanger innocent passengers... and other motorists for that matter
Yasiel Puig hires cousin to drive him By Mark Saxon | ESPNLosAngeles.com -- 1 hour ago LOS ANGELES -- After two incidents of reckless driving in eight months, Yasiel Puig has decided to relinquish the steering wheel. Los Angeles Dodgers president Stan Kasten said he spoke with Puig on Thursday, and the 23-year-old outfielder told him he has hired a cousin to drive him around for the time being. "I give him credit for taking that step if nothing else," Kasten said during a radio appearance on ESPNLA 710. In April, Puig was clocked going 97 mph in a 50 mph zone in Tennessee, but he had those reckless driving and speeding charges dismissed after serving 12 hours of community service. Puig was charged with reckless driving again last month for allegedly driving 110 mph in a 70 mph zone in Florida. Puig batted .319 with 19 home runs in 104 games last season, finishing second to Miami Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez in National League Rookie of the Year balloting. Kasten and general manager Ned Colletti both spoke with Puig after his latest run-in with law enforcement. Kasten said he also traveled to Tennessee to meet with the Cuban defector after his first incident, which came while Puig was with the Dodgers' Double-A team. "I sat him down myself when that happened and made it clear what we expect of him," Kasten said. "I said then that, even if he thinks he can get away with it because he's in Chattanooga, if you ever get to the big leagues, nothing -- nothing -- is going to escape attention. He brought that up to me today." Florida authorities released video of Puig's December arrest on Wednesday. The video shows the officer scolding Puig for driving his white Mercedes so fast while his mother was in the car. Puig later pleads with the officer to let him go. __
Still can't quote people...what the hell is up with my shit? I'm on my new super computer and running Windows 7...other than that what could be the change? EDIT: I had to uncheck the "use rich text editor" option in my settings for some reason.
So now I'm hearing he was trying to tell the cop he was a Dodger and to let him go, and then he has hired his cousin to drive him everywhere....lol, is this shit true?
I think the fact that he hired someone to drive for him is a good thing....I wonder how it came about. Initiated by him or secretly ordered by the team, etc. Whatever. Can this be diffused by this action? If he did it all on his own, then good for him. But the fact that this pea-brain has to do this is testament to his idiocy and lack of self control, IMO. What a moron. I mean, if he wasn't a BB player making 42 million, then he would be a Cuban refugee with a regular job and a car, and he'd still be driving like the jerkoff he is/was....and couldn't afford a fucking chauffer, right? Then he'd be out there, whenever, wherever....that's OK? I guess so, unless it's your wife or kid he mangles up. Or kills. "Plenty of good people get speeding tickets and he wasn't driving drunk"...worse excuse I've heard yet. "Relaxing" about this kind of shit is absolutely the worst thing anyone can do... No, not drunk driving....just reckless driving. Minor infraction.... Imagine if this clown was drunk if he drives like that straight and sober?
Hey Zeus. I touched 90 a couple of times this morning on the way to work (and I'm an old fucker.) It was 4:15 a.m. and there were maybe a dozen cars in a 20 mile stretch. Is that reckless driving? Maybe to some of you, but not to me. To me reckless is when you're weaving in and out of traffic, speeding up and slowing down, jockeying for position, cutting people off, and being an endangerment. Was Puig doing these things? We don't really know. But the law says if you are speeding a certain amount over the limit it is regarded as "reckless". I say if you are maintaining a steady speed and using signals while driving over the speed limit then you are "speeding", and that's it. If I got a ticket, and had plenty of money to burn, I would hire a lawyer and tell him to make the state prove "reckless".
Hahaha puig has his own driving thread. That's bad! I wish I had a cousin who was rich and hired me as his driver. Holy shit that would be epic.
Looks like I was right...for a change. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-b...opped-florida-authorities-204353739--mlb.html But the State Attorney's Office said the trooper didn't see Puig weaving in and out of traffic, which was light to moderate at the time of the December 28th incident, and there was no other aggravating factor that warranted the reckless driving charge.
Dodgers News: Yasiel Puig Says He's "Sorry To All Of Los Angeles" by: Ross Gasmer | Dodgers Nation January 31, 2014 Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig has had an up-and-down off-season as he's worked hard to integrate himself into the LA community, but was also arrested on a reckless driving charge for the second time in eight months. The 23-year-old outfielder was driving 110 mph in a 70 mph zone in Florida and was with his mom and cousin in the car. Earlier this week, the charges were dropped against Puig as the Florida State Attorney's office said since he wasn't weaving in and out of traffic, he was just given a speeding ticket. At the Dodgers "Pitching In The Community" event today, Puig had this to say to Bill Plaschke of the LA Times about his arrest: I'm here to say I'm sorry to all of Los Angeles, to all the children who look up to me, to everyone who has supported me, he said through an interpreter. I'm so grateful for everyone’s love, I'm so sorry to let them down, and it will never happen again. At the time of his arrest, Dodgers president and CEO Stan Kasten said Puig was preparing to issue a public apology so it's unsure if this is that apology. Prior to his run-in with the law, Puig held two clinics at Dodger Stadium for Little Leaguers and has been seen on several occasions at Staples Center to watch the Lakers play. Not expected to make a contribution in 2013, the Dodgers called on the young outfielder when Matt Kemp and Carl Crawford went down with injuries in early June. In his rookie season, Puig dazzled in the field and helped lead them from worst to first. With all the good came the criticism for overthrowing cutoff men, running into outs and excessively celebrating on the field. Since the arrest, Puig hired his cousin to drive him around and it sounds like he’s taking the necessary steps to ensure this doesn't happen again. __
Yasiel Puig too heavy in camp? By Mark Saxon | ESPNLosAngeles.com -- 15 minutes ago GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly acknowledged the team has some concerns about Yasiel Puig's conditioning. Mattingly said Puig showed up at camp weighing 251 pounds, 26 more than he weighed at the end of the regular season. Puig, who is a muscular 6-foot-3, was 235 pounds at the beginning of last spring. The Dodgers are hoping Puig can lose some weight before the start of the season on March 22 in Australia. "We don't feel it's going to be a problem, but we're paying attention to it, put it that way," Mattingly told ESPNLosAngeles.com. Puig, 23, has been bothered by shoulder soreness and missed the last two days of baseball activities after fouling a ball off his right leg in batting practice. The National League Rookie of the Year runner-up batted .319 with 19 home runs and 42 RBIs after his early June call-up. For Puig, February began with a public apology for his most recent reckless driving arrest. The charge was dropped by the Florida state attorney's office last week, but Puig still was ticketed for speeding. __
