a lot of people didn't even want Cano on a 5/120 because " we have to pay Kershaw and Hanley ". i'm just sayin
I think both teams do. They need any and all OFers they can get, and it'd be better for them than trading for one already making millions of dollars. And we get a potential 4 win infielder.
I was not one of those. I'm a believer the Guggenheim well is very very deep. I was afraid though they'd eventually stop bidding for top FA, the fact we weren't even in on Cano because of sticker shock makes me a little nervous. But that was a special circumstance for a special player, he is 31 wanting a 10 year deal. I do believe they will lock up Kersh and Hanley for the rest of their careers no matter what.
so Kemp and Joc Pederson foooorrrr Nick Franklin, Taijuan Walker, DJ Peterson? we might have a deal. Peterson, a pretty good 3B prospect, could give us room to move Seager in a Price deal.....
I disagree, the yanks cost 10 million when ownership acquired them, the dodgers cost billions. You have sweet tv deal, so do we, in fact we own the network. The Yankees are resetting the luxury tax by getting under 189 million at opening day. The dodgers have over 120 million committed to 2017 and kershaw needs a deal soon.
I think what he was saying was that Guggenheim has more money than the Steinbrenner family. Regardless of baseball business. George would've said fuck the luxury tax, will this guy help us win?
ok, this is done... could we please just close this thread and keep going, or move it to the News/rumors or around the league?
well, yeh that's what they say, but would that stop you from pairing Guerrero and Nick Franklin in the middle? Franklin, a high level prospect @ 2B and Guerrero a potential 20-25HR guy @ SS.... we just had Hanley hit 20+ jacks for us and play below average D at SS...i still liked the feel. you?
Just heard on MLBN that Nick Franklin is a SS but he was just playing at 2B for the Mariners cause somebody already had the SS position. Awesome sauce.
Better than Ellsbury 7/153MM, I cannot get over that contract. Although the Cano contract is helping me get over the Ellsbury deal. lol
So the Yankees lost 2 all stars and replaced them with Ellsbury. Yeah that contract is just awful, just awful.
