Haven't seen much of the last couple of games, but I think we'll be able to get some of it turned around. We all knew the Dodgers were playing above their asses, but they aren't this bad.
I want to believe all the "we'll turn it around" and the "it's just a glitch" posts. I do. But we simply are not as good as the other teams we are playing anymore... they are better. As shitty as some of them are supposed to be, they have better players than we do now. A team that has rookies, reclamation projects, ineffective veterans, and one streaky star at all the positions on the field will fall short the majority of the time. They already had their "miracle run"; now reality has set in. This is what Ned has given us. When you sign the likes of Uribe, Rivera, Lilly, Kennedy, Wright, etc., to be your everyday front line players, and they spend more time on the DL, or are on and off of it, or stink up the place, is it a big surprise? Sad, but it should be expected from the Dodgers. Is it really anything we haven't seen before ?
agreed I mean, we just got swept by the then 19-28 Brewers? How does (not just) a 1st place team, but a team with (still, somehow) the best record in baseball lose 4 straight to a 19-28 team? The Brewers were in last place but, thanks to us, have moved up 2 spots in the standings and now with Lilly hurt, Capuano looking more like Capuano, and no offense... this is not looking good
yeah... even though every team goes through losing spells, it just feels like this is different. We have one of the worst lineups in baseball right now. Guess how the other shitty lineups are doing? SD at 18-35, Seattle at 23-31, just to name a couple. it looks like our pitching staff is beginning to normalize as well -- you know Cap wasn't going to pitch like Cy Young the entire year. Lilly is down. Harang is a pile of shit. The bullpen is showing a lot of holes again too.
Yea we are this bad, I mean just look at the damn lineups. They are the most pathetic I've seen in a while, I honestly can't remember a worse lineup. Loney is a complete joke of a 1st baseman and he's the best infielder we've got besides AJ Ellis, that's everything that needs to be said.
Our offense is horrible, but then again it's hard to win when the pitching staff is giving up 4+ runs a game.
The only thing that is going to make sucking this hard somewhat bearable is knowing that Ned will be fired before the winter meetings because the new owners won't have any excuse to keep him around.
