Martin can eat a dick and Hanley can take the QO and play 3rd where he belongs or walk.
I think w Harens contract vesting already we are set pitching wise. Maybe we add some retread but I don't think they go out and sign another frontline starter for next season. It wasnt our SP that let us down and you don't really need 4 frontline starters in a playoff series.

Ethier will be gone for sure though. I think maybe he goes to the cubs for a ham sandwich or something but he will be gonegone

i agree with that. the 1st thing they should do is throw money @ David Robertson and Andrew Miller and try to get both @ the back of our bullpen and in front of Kenley. asking for another front line starter is kinda just being greedy, but there's always the chance that we lose Greinke after next year if/when he opts out or one of our top 3 arms goes down with a major injury. we have in-house starting pitching that may be ready by 2016 though in Urias, so we could be OK there. just never certain because arms are fragile, but our top 3 arms have proven to be pretty durable and the " bounce back " types.

don't agree with this. mostly because i just can't believe that anyone wants him enough or that the Dodgers will fork over big cash to get rid of him and get a shitty return when he's a valuable AB in a pinch role for us. i think he stays and pinch hits for us again and he'll just have to be happy with it..he's gettin paid a major amount anyway..that should pacify him.

the team with the largest payroll in baseball history should have, among other things, 1) a big time power bat that can bang out 40HRs religiously and 2) a shortstop that can play all 9 innings without needing to be subbed for defensive reasons. i just can't see any reason to bring back Hanley on a 1yr deal and have to go through " contract year Hanley " again, or keep him in general when he's gonna command 15+M a year to play 7 innings. we deserve a 9 inning SS that can D up and provide a little pop.

somebody in that front office has to see JJ Hardy as a good pickup. but if you have to keep Hanley, give him a 3 or 4yr deal and let him play without the contract year shit hanging over his head. Mattingly even came out and admitted that he felt Hanley's contract status was hurting his performance. the definition of insanity is doing the same shit over again and expecting a different outcome. a big no thank you to " contract year Hanley ".

Brian "I'm going to amp it up in the playoffs" Wilson is opting in on his deal for 9.5 M. You can kiss any hopes of taking on another reliever goodbye.

Other than Hanley and Ethier this team is set

As the sun rises on the left coast, Dodgers fans are feeling "blue" again and not the way we wanted to. We all expected more from this team this year from the top down. The only fact that matters is we didn't get that, and changes better be coming starting from the top down. Yes I'm pissed off and upset yet again knowing how things might go if nothing's done. I honestly think there at least 10 people on this board that could've managed this team better this year. I think we all agree that the team needs at least 1 more starter, and bullpen help. Some of those 10 mil contracts must go, and I could go on all day about who else. I should be around to put my 2 cents in about college/ pro football, and the NBA season upcoming. I love a pro basketball team from the left coast but it's not in LA.....sorry. Can't wait to see how long it takes for heads to start rolling and who....until than

The dodgers may be able to upgrade one or two players this offseason but given the systemic issues they need a cardiologist and a defibrillator for any real improvement.

Hanley should become a 1B after the seventh inning.
Because our 1B might get us that pitcher we want in trade and some defensive help up the middle or a good enough catcher.

yea, very likely that we have 1 more year of Wilson and of course League ( League's option MUST NOT vest next year), but i doubt that means they won't go after Miller. they liked him enough to go after him at the deadline knowing that he'd be a free agent after the year. his performance with the O's is just a constant reminder of what they could've had and what they still can end up with.

my roster would look somethin like this considering the fact that we have to keep a few bums like League and Wilson:

1 Dee 2B ( hoping for progress here and better ABs, might steal 80 bases if he does progress and get on base more )
    2 Kemp RF
    3 Stanton LF
    4 AGon 1B
    5 Hardy SS
    6 Joc CF
    7 Uribe 3B
    8 Martin C

SVS, Turner, Ellis, Guerrero and Ethier on the bench

    Kershaw, Greinke, Ryu, Haren, Billingsley

Kenley, A.Miller, D. Robertson, Baez, Onelki, League, Wilson

gonna need Stanton to press for the Dodgers..i think it's possible. gonna need the Yankees to pass on giving Robertson a QO..i think that's less of a possibility.

Do any of you remember Colleti's comments the day after he traded for Hernandez? They were basically in the neighborhood of, "I'm glad Amare didn't hear the news that Beckett is injured, otherwise he'd have had leverage and we wouldn't have got such a good deal on Hernandez." Ned was actually proud of that trade. Meanwhile, Sabean is trading for Peavy.

This guy Ned is out of his league. Always has been. All the good things that Walter, Kasten, and Magic bring to the front office are neutralized by Ned, and in the field by Mattingly. It's time for them to bring in their own guys. Send Ned to become the GM of some bocce ball team where he can actually make a difference, and give us a real GM. One who would've realized that our weak pen all season needed improvement before the trade deadline.

That's all I have to say. You probably won't hear much from me until next season. Have a good winter, y'all.

Like I said earlier, Ned can't hide behind the abysmal ownership of Frank.

And the new owners need to realize this as well. You're going to become the joke of the league if you keep these guys around. They aren't the guys, so move on.

Biggest fear right now is that ownership does nothing.

Kasten's a guy that's been known to " ride it out " too..however, he has more than he's ever had to work with and ownership's been telling him to stay aggressive, so we'll see what he does.

Ned and Mattingly definitely get the blame and there can be no more hiding behind them and using them as the scapegoats..at some point Ned and Mattingly have to be seen as new ownership's guys and ownership better cut bait before that happens. if Logan White leaves for a GM job elsewhere, Dodger fans should storm the castle. and there a couple of perfectly good in-game managers in Gardenhire and Guillen available. no excuses.

Ugh, well that's one useless arm in the BP booked in.

Management would obviously not do this b/c it would mean wasting ~$10m. But would it be possible to just dump him into the minors so he's not wasting a spot on the 25 man roster?

look..you've gotta recognize that this was basically a .500 team when Kershaw wasn't pitching. we're worse off than we think..i'm just sayin. gotta change the culture hardcore. time to button it up..this group was a clown-car.

Buster Olney says Hanley is gone and most people around the league think he's gonna be an even worse 3rd baseman..agreed.

quit saying we'll be fine without Hanley, the offense will take a major hit, unless you're assuming we upgrade somewhere else offensively and I'm not seeing that.

So, Stanton? come on I don't see that realistically possible

that i am. big offensive upgrade at catcher and a big offensive upgrade in LF. big upgrades defensively as well.

why not? is his contract status not in limbo?

just to add..we're not that good offensively WITH Hanley. again, basically a .500 team when Kershaw's not pitching.

    Off season wish list:
    - Fire Ned and Don. Ned shit the bed by not making any bullpen additions at the deadline. The whole "everyone wanted the big 3" is just bullshit. I'm sure that is what they all asked for, but come on, that's where everyone will start, it's called negotiating for a reason. Don worked with what he had, but ultimately the team looked tight in the end and his bullpen/in-game management is just pure shit.
    - Bring back Kim Ng or promote Logan White to GM. Logan has earned his shot, but I'd prefer a raise to him and Ng in as GM as all I have heard is how outstanding she is.
    - Trade high on Dee for some good prospects and hopefully a good relief arm. With team control and being one of the better 2B options out there, someone would pay heavily for him. I like Dee, but feel he will always be a guy that wears out down the stretch. Hopefully someone else is willing to take that chance on him.
    - Offer QO to Hanley and attempt to resign him for 3-4 years. If he accepts the QO, great! If not, this offense will be in trouble. Move him to 3B and replace him at SS with Arru.
    - Uribe to a utility roll and potentially 2B for the year if Guerrero just shits the bed at the position.
    - Trade Crawford. He rebuilt a lot of value down the stretch for us and should no longer force the team to eat 75% of his contract to get him out of LA.
    - Consider moving Ethier, but only for something of value. If nothing of value comes back, start 2015 with a platoon of him and SVS if Joc is not ready out of the gate and hope he can rebuild some at the beginning of the year.
    - Lester, I WANT LESTER!
    - Pursue Andrew Miller
    - Get Russell Martin, we are bare at catcher for a few years it looks like and Ellis battled injuries all year. Get Martin to pair with AJ and have them on a 4-2,4-3 schedule so that both can stay somewhat healthy.

Ideal lineup going into next season
    CF Puig
    2B Guerrero/ C Martin
    1B AGon
    RF Kemp
    3B Hanley
    LF Joc
    C Martin/ 2B Guerrero
    SS Arru

That is resigning one guy and adding another via FA. I feel that could be one of the most dangerous lineups in baseball with power 1-7.
