I've been saying for awhile that I have been puzzled by Puig's loss of power. He used to hit HRs oppossite field low and away.....he'd muscle that out.

Then he became a kinda pseudo singles doublez guy that walkec alot.

    Now I dont know.

People here said "he was never a power guy". That wasnt a fair comment since we only saw 1 year of his power. Well who is the real Puig then?

It does make me wonder what went on.

Re. his loss of power, he's lost some bulk, but it's not like he's evolved into Eugenio Velez. He should be hitting at least 20 HRs a year.

The guy is built like Hercules, so I don't think there is a " non strength"issue with him- it-s the way the ball leaves his bat. Look at a kid like Joc...just big, but not neccessarily a chiseled specimen. Hits the ball a country mile. Not a slash hitter like Puig. But can park it 465 ft away on occasion.
When Puig was in the stupid HR Derby, I posted that he will do terribly, and was jumped on by more than one person as totally wrong about that. We all know what happened there.
If he can rake those low lasers to all fields like he did once, we'll be sitting pretty. The HRs will come now and then, no doubt.

Yeah, about right. But that's his ceiling I think...unless he revamps his plate approach.

And the question is: when things are going great, which do we prefer? For Puig to perhaps create some lift to his swing but perhaps pop up more or to keep it level and focus on line drives but not get many pop up home runs

I'm fine with him not being a big HR guy. I just want him to not be an auto out.

In last year's rare and jaw-dropping ML (or only NL, forget)best in HRs enjoyment, I for one, did not expect a HR from Puig when he stepped up to the plate.
    Ever.
I don't know how many he wound up with but not too many, I think.

    personally
i'd prefer him to be a higher avg/line dive hitter than a slugger
like bz says, the hr's will come

This is why it was said all along he's not a power guy. He's a line drive hitter, not a fly ball hitter.

Well, Idk about him being a pos, but when you actually get excited over him hitting the ball hard (I kinda did), it goes to show you how far this dude has fallen.
    Great expectations.

Fun as in why so serious?
Fun as in the movement thing being tongue in cheek hyperbole.
Fun as in a pastime shoukd be there to help you relax from the daily stress of life... Not cause you more.
If being a dodgers fan stresses you out then you doing it wrong.

Thats the teams fault for overinflating a young ego coming from a communist repressive regime.

Lots of players come out of nowhere to put up awesome numbers then suck. Its not a new phenomenon. Specially when the team messes with his play style and makes him change who he is. Doesnt help that teammates alienated him due to the mega jealousy going on.

Some rebound in a year or two.
Some spend half a decade treading water before breaking out.
    Some bust.
