    meh
i'll believe it when i see it
i find it difficult to be even cautiously optimistic after all the :shit: we've been through
    if it happens, great
if not, there are plenty of other alternatives

Very true and who knows what the FCC is thinking. At least it is on their radar and a topic for TW and Charter to respond to soon. It is the activist investors who are supposedly buying in and they are always a wild card. I will link any articles on he investors if appropriate.

I'm honestly on the verge of getting TWC. I'm fed up with my ATT Uverse wifi. Too many issues and I'm finally over it and ready to make a change. It may as well be TWC so we can actually get all the dodger shows etc. plus games.

Just too damn lazy to go through the process.

I have ATT Uverse as well and we tax the heck out of the system with multiple HD TV's, multiple PC's and multiple laptops and phones and with that many devices on a residential service we do bog things down sometimes, but otherwise I'm impressed how well it works most times.

But this Dodger situation is past pissing me off.

If I had access to TWC 2 years ago I would have gladly made the switch in a second.

But now I feel like I have crossed the threshold to where I will never have cable/satellite TV service ever again. It feels good to be done with that archaic albatross.

Oh, and fuck ATT. Been boycotting those assholes for 15 years over petty, illegal, lying business practices. All of these companies are assholes, but I wouldn't hesitate for a second to drop that POS company.

Be a fan the modern way. Thats what the internet is for.
You dont have to watch the games.
You already know the roster by heart anyway.
You just follow online or get one of the low res feeds that show the game freely.
When I was a kid we didnt have the ability to watch every game. We had school and bed times and other people saying when we could watch TV.
But what we did have was box scores and commentary in the paper and the tv news.
And it was enough for us to be able to be fans. We have way more know at our fingertips without even needing to watch most games the old fashioned way.
Specially with replays and highlights and endless 'news' commentary online about the games.

Umm Mousey there was no sarcasm smiley required...

Fond evenings listening to the Dodgers on the AM radio.. back in the day... and then scouring every detail out of the daily box scores.. and even more scouring the weekly Sunday league BA and pitchign stats

    OK I'm old too

Nothing wrong with reminiscing a little bit, but we did those things out of necessity not choice. I still listen on the radio now and then when it's the only option. But is radio + newspaper better than watching it on a 50" high-def TV? No. Don't be crazy.

As am I. For me it meant listening in the dark on radio when the parents thought I was alseep. I picked up stations from Houston, St. Louis, Chicago, and sometimes New York. Frustrating as hell when that AM signal started to fade during a tense segment of the game. If atmospheric conditions weren't just right, you couldn't pick up the same station you did the night before. I spent every summer day trying to glean whatever tid bits I could from the box scores and leader stats.

sitting in front of a big screen with the game pumped into your eyeballs through time warner cable doesnt take as much work and enjoyment in being a fan as listening to Vin on AM radio, watching some hack give a minute of highlights during the late news, and then buying an LA times on the way to school in the morning to read the box scores and the notes on a scorecard.

Time Warner Cable Lowers Price Of Dodgers Channel
    MAR 23, 2016 7:17 AM

    RealGM

Time Warner Cable is offering a proposal designed to end the stalemate over distribution of the sports channel owned by the Los Angeles Dodgers so fans in Southern California can see games this season.

This will be Hall of Fame announcer Vin Scully's final season in the broadcast booth.

Time Warner Cable said late Tuesday that it had cut by 30% the price of the sports channel offered to DirecTV and other pay-television providers in hopes of spurring the long-stalled negotiations before the seasons begins April 4.

The move could provide an end in the bitter dispute that has prevented thousands of Dodgers fans from watching their favorite team for the last two seasons.

"We owe it to Dodger fans to try to get a deal done, especially because of the historic nature of this year with it being [baseball announcer] Vin Scully's final season," Time Warner Cable spokesman Andrew Fegyveresi said.

DirecTV, AT&T, Verizon and Cox Communications have balked at the price of the channel that Time Warner had been demanding.

Don't be pissed. Still useful to watch the rest of the league throughout the year.

The funny thing is, if Time Warner makes a deal with the other carriers, I'm getting rid of TWC because they suck.

I also don't think DirecTV is gonna cave. It's still a high price for the channel and don't see any large incentive for them to pay for t at the moment
