Kemp should come back, Crawford should come back, AJ should come back and their replacements have been SVS, Puig and FedEx... I think that if SVS keeps crushing the ball and Puig performs as he has on his first 3 games, its impossible to think they get dumped... FedEx could be sent down as they want him playing everyday, and his impact has not been anything out of this world tbh... SO, lets predict the moves, and most important, the playing time impact... MY GUESS: WHEN AJ COMES BACK: FedEx goes to AAA, they keep Hernandez, AJ gets back to being full time C. No brainer here... WHEN KEMP COMES BACK: Cruz gets the ax. ABOUT TIME!!! there's no more ways to save him... about the playing time, Kemp goes back to CF, Puig moves to RF, and Ethier platoons with SVS... WHEN CRAWFORD COMES BACK (this one could take around a month): now things get interesting, as Uribe is basically the regular 3B again, Skip is the 2B backup and Hariston is the 3B/LF backup... but there's no way the cut their best power source off the bench (SVS)... here is where (sadly) if Puig is not destroying the ball, he'll get sent down... if he's crushing the ball, I expect a phantom DL stint for Hairston... but of course, as this season has gone, someone will be injured by then...
dont you see Donny sending Puig (batting .425, 7 HR, 22 RBIs) to AA and say "at the rhythm he has been producing, its impossible for him to keep it up, and we dont want to create expectations that are not possible to achieve."???? sadly, I do...
the way this season has been going, every time one player comes back it probably just means another is going on the DL.
what i see happening... fedex goes down svs probably as well puig stays as long as crawford's down then ned trades ethier to the yankees for vernon wells and agrees to pay both salaries what i'd prefer to see... ned and dbb get fired
I would think unles Puig goes 0 for 40 or something, he's here to stay. He'll be a big draw at the gate. Besides, he's pretty damn good player... I like this and trade Either...
I actually think when Ellis comes back, we DFA Hernandez. When Kemp gets back, we say peace out to Cruz. When Crawford is back, we phantom DL someone or someone actually needs to go on the DL. If we don't DL anyone, I think SVS goes. I think it would be silly to send Puig back down, unless he struggles pretty bad over the next week. The whole argument about sending guys back to the minors to get more AB's pisses me off. I get it, but I'd rather keep the best players on the active roster. It's possible to get Crawford, Kemp, Ethier and Puig pretty regular playing time. Crawford and Ethier should split taking days off against lefties, and we should give Kemp a day off once or twice a week. SVS is interesting though. He has played pretty well and has shown some solid power. Before this season I thought there was no way he would ever see an extended period of time on a major league roster, but maybe his new stance really has made him a better hitter. It's still a small sample size and too early to tell, but I'd like to see him stay on the roster for now. However, he's probably the odd one out, IMO.
same with me blf was right (for once) he seems really relaxed up at the plate... that's van slyke, not blf
I really want SVS to stay. He's shown himself to be a good power hitter off the bench. We'd have 5 outfielders (seven when counting Skip and Jerry), but I'd want to keep both him and Puig before we trade somebody. Get rid of Hernandez. He was great for one game, but he's old and if Fed Ex is set to become our future catcher, I'd rather he get the experience up here. Cruz may be gone too. I say maybe because DBB has a hard on for him and just can't let him go. What we do to keep SVS, Puig and Fed Ex at the same time, in terms of who's the third person to be sent down/axed is beyond me. But I hope they make the right call for the team, and not the right call for "baseball reasons".
When AJ comes back, FedEx goes down. When Kemp comes back, someone goes on the DL. When Crawford comes back, someone else goes on the DL lol
I know its a small sample, but 7 HRs is a big impact, even for a small sample...plus, SVS would have to clear waivers if I'm not wrong... I think they rather cut Hariston than SVS... we have too many utilities IFs and no bench power... SVS has to stay
Puig has made his case to be our RF. Crawford has made his case to be our LF. Obviously Kemp and Ethier are destined to platoon in CF. SVS and Uribe get traded for Pedro Alvarez.
SVS might not be a bad trade piece... maybe to the brewers for Ramirez to play LF while Braun serves his 100 game suspension...
Keep SVS on the 25 man club. He's not an everyday player anyways. He's a great option off the bench with power. He can spot start every now and again as well.
Maybe Ethier instead of SVS. IMO, we kind of need SVS to back up 1B as well as the OF corners and the only powerbat of the bench. We'd have no legit 1B backup, just Hairston and Uribe.
