glad you got a chuckle well Ryno won't have many of the issues of other first time managers since he's been in thousands of games and its the vets who need to display the professionalism and leadership to get the job done because you were paid to do so. Then the rookies notice that little shit and it toughens everyone up. It's always a tough situation losing a manager mid season and many fans ignore the impact of 'clubhouse leaders'
in fact on the theme of losing clubhouse leaders that was maybe the 2nd biggest error the Angels made last year. #1 losing Greinke to the Dodgers #2 losing Torii Hunter at all #3 hiring Josh Hamilton #... losing other pitchers Torii was the clubhouse leader who pulled the team together in tough times and Arte and DiPoto got cheap on the wrong guy... boneheaded move... and an even stupider move when he joined the Tigers... could you make a worse move?
They shouldn't have gave Pujols or Hamilton the contracts they did. They shouldn't have traded their only prospect for Greinke. They should have drafted and scouted better.
I understand signing pujols and I do think he has more to offer when he gets his foot issies resolved(it's the same issue I'm duncan has dealt with for the past 10 years or so).will he ever be the hitter he was with the cards?no,but he'll be better than this year.I liked the move for greinke, but why penny pinch him when u need starting pitching?qnd then they took the money they should have used on greinke and gave it to hamilton, when they already had 4 other OFers under contract!ervin santana has made them look terrible this year and walden has been a key cog in the braves bullpen this year as well.their rotation should be weaver/greinke/santana/vargas/richards...which probably could have carried them to the postseason and maybe the division crown even
That's true but at the same time its gotta be hard to stay focused on winning when this is the first time the phils have been out of contention in almost 10 years and a manager that was a great players coach and won a ws series with many of these same guys just a few years ago was fired.it is deffinitely their job to stay focused and keep on keepin on but I would understand if they didn't.thankfully ryno has done a good job keeping their heads in it and I don't have to deal with the misery of watching a team whose hearts aren't in the game!I don't mind watching a losing team if they hustle and put their hearts on their sleeves and give everything they have, but I will not watch a team just phone it in the last 40+ games bc "there's nothing to play for"
one bad move after another after another after another a team could hardly have such a bad off season with so much talent departing and then spend it on Hamilton with the .226 average? there went the team...
On the topic of the Angels... Jon Morosi @jonmorosi1m Angels are expected to replace either general manager Jerry Dipoto or manager Mike Scioscia before start of next season, sources say. (more)
Jon Morosi @jonmorosi29s Philosophical differences exist between the men, and it has become increasingly apparent to organization that status quo is not tenable.
C.J. Wilson @str8edgeracer 3hI think you meant to send this to @ClaytonKersh22 RT @arielgersh: @str8edgeracer can i get a retweet from the best pitcher in the @MLB C.J. is such a cool guy.
Today the Braves play the Cardinals and the Pirates face the Giants... hopefully all 4 teams lose (but really, would be nice for Pirates/Braves to lose) Speaking of the Giants and losing, as much as I love how buried they are in the standings, I kinda hope they do a bit better so they don't get such a fantastic draft pick in next years draft. They'd have the #6 draft pick next year which ugh, could suck ass for us. Hopefully they begin to win a bit more, go on a stupid hot streak (not against us) and drop a bit... but thats getting greedy.
More Angels drama: they fought in the clubhouse last year: http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/writer...e-nearly-included-pujols-hunter-fight-in-2012 They should probably fire both the GM and manager but ill enjoy this from over here for now
I want them to finish 11th or higher. No top 10 pick for them. Is Rodon the consensus #1 for the draft?
