Pirates To Sign Edinson Volquez By Steve Adams [December 11 at 4:02pm CST] The Pirates have agreed to terms with right-hander Edinson Volquez on a one-year, $5MM contract, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (Twitter link). Volquez is represented by the Wasserman Media Group. __
I didn't know where to put this, but: Opening game series: March 22 7 pm Sydney time/1 am PT and March 23 1 pm Sydney/7 pm PT -- March 22. Turn your DVR into a time machine! #Dodgers That should be fun, but I feel bad for the east coasters having to watch at 4 am haha. When I was across seas, watching a game with a 3 am start time was, interesting.
So we have a regular season game....play more spring training games...and then continue the season in April? I fucking hate this league sometimes. Idiotic.
yeah it's STRANGE. It kinda helps us in the sense that we can have Kershaw+Greinke pitch 6 out of our first 8 games lol
So first mulder and now Kennedy? Wtf is going on here.....at least kemp isn't going anywhere. Unless Ned changes his mind
Dodgers GM Ned Colletti told reporters, including Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times (on Twitter), that he has met with "far more agents than teams" at the winter meetings. He added that he doesn't expect any deals to go down before leaving tomorrow. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/12/nl-notes-1.html
Yeah haha good times. I think it was around 3 a.m. for me too in the middle of the pacific watching the Super Bowl drinking cider.
former vagiants farmhand good looking out ned Dodgers Acquire Seth RosinBy Steve Adams [December 12 at 9:26am CST]The Mets have traded right-hander Seth Rosin -- their selection in this morning's Rule 5 Draft -- to the Dodgers, tweets MLB.com's Ken Gurnick. GM Sandy Alderson had told reporters (including ESPN's Adam Rubin) earlier this morning that he had worked out a deal to send Rosin to another team for a player to be named later (Twitter links).Rosin, 25, posted a 4.33 ERA with 6.8 K/9 and 2.5 BB/9 in 126 2/3 innings for the Phillies' Double-A affiliate in 2013. The Giants selected Rosin in the fourth round of the 2010 draft out of the University of Minnesota and traded him to the Phillies along with Nate Schierholtz and Tommy Joseph in the Hunter Pence deal of July 2012. Schierholtz was non-tendered after the 2012 season and signed with the Cubs, leaving Joseph as the last remaining piece of that deal. Of course, Rosin is no guarantee to stick with the Dodgers and could ultimately be returned to the Phillies. __
rest assured, this guy will hit about .900 against us... Giants To Sign Mike Morse By Steve Adams [December 12 at 9:59am CST] 9:59 am: Morse's base salary is an even $6MM, tweets Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. 9:15 am: Morse will receive a base salary of roughly $5MM, and his contract contains additional incentives, according to ESPN's Buster Olney (on Twitter). 8:41 am: The Giants have agreed to sign Mike Morse, according to Andrew Baggarly of CSN Bay Area (on Twitter). John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that it's a one-year deal for Morse, who will serve as the Giants' left fielder (Twitter link). Morse, who is represented by ACES, battled significant injuries in 2013 en route to a career-worst .215/.270/.381 batting line with 13 homers between the Mariners and Orioles. His 2010-12 seasons were a different story, however, as Morse posted a gaudy .296/.345/.516 batting line with 64 homers in 1298 plate appearances for the Nationals as a first baseman/outfielder. The caveat with Morse is that even in his most productive seasons at the plate, he's still a defensively challenged player. Morse has a career UZR/150 of -18.3 in left field, meaning he'll need to return to his 2010-12 form at the plate to provide a significant level of all-around value to the Giants. Morse also has experience at first base, where he's a more passable defender, so the Giants could at least entertain the idea of flipping him and Brandon Belt if Morse's glove is too rough in the outfield. Morse will join an outfield alignment that will have Hunter Pence starting in right field, Angel Pagan manning center field and Gregor Blanco likely seeing plenty of time as a late-inning replacement for Morse in a fourth outfielder's role. Earlier today it was reported that the Giants still hoped to add a right-handed swinging outfielder. The Giants were said to be in negotiations with Jeff Baker as recently as yesterday afternoon, but clearly elected to go a different route. __
Dodgers Manager Don Mattingly: "I look at our core group of guys. We're not sitting here with tons of holes to fill." is mattingly stupid or does he just not pay attention to what he says? uh, how bout that hole at 3b bubba? or loogy? or your bench? :jethro:
Is it a given that Juan Uribe is going to suck again? WTF is the problem with signing this guy ? Guy's a great third baseman....I think he's proven that many times over. To lose him to the Marlins is just wrong. I'm old, so I don't remember....but did Michael Young get a hit while on the Dodgers? Maybe the phone rang and I missed it.
Yeah fat Uribe plays a mean D And Young... somehow hit .314 with the Dodgers last year... mostly when no one was on board and it didn't matter...
