First up Brandon McCarthy After spending so much time gloating about the Dodgers dominance in "stealing" him from the Yankees (who offered him no contract) Brandons "durability" ran out while it's still the month of April. This came to the surprise of no one that has followed him even casually. NY gambled on an expiring contract and got a few good months out of him. LA gambled on 4 years and got 23 innings with an ERA of almost 6 How's that working out for ya?
workin out pretty well there. wrong. actually, what i gloated about was the fact that the Dodgers took the Yankees' best starter and made him their #4 starter. that's still funny when i hear myself say it aloud today, you bkitch you. Hahaha but since you're here doin some early season trolling..get a load of the Dodger lineup that you said wouldn't be as good as last year's..they currently lead the majors in HRs after leading the majors in HRs in the spring as well, you bkitch you. one more time..:lolup::lolup: how's Joc lookin, you bkitch you? and what's this i hear about the Yankees trying to trade for the Braves' top 2B/SS prospect? i thought you said Refsnyder was the man for the job? got Alex Guerrero? :bukkake:
i never liked the signing from the get go would have had no problem with 2 years/$24MM but 4 years/$48MM just seemed/seems like a massive overpay for a #4
Jesus fucking Christ how about we wait more than a month to deem a signing a failure huh? and everyone else saying "hated this"... Cmon now
McCarthy's going to bean Matt Carpenter in the head in the playoffs and hit Yadier Molina in the dick to make this contract a massive success.
Not an indictment on McCarthy or anything (although being 4-0 is a somewhat diluted criteria , IMO anyway, since we seem to go into a offensive frenzy when he pitches), but waiting for a position player (who can field with the best of them) for 3 years, is way different than waiting for a pitcher for the same amount of time...way different. If he's injured and is at best only sporadically available for the rest of the year, not even taking into consideration the rest of his contract, the signing was ill advised, plain and simple. A shorter one would fare better, but maybe he had similar offers, IDK...and that's what it took to get him. We could have looked elsewhere..
I know that right now, lots of Yankee fans are very grouchy over the fact the Mets are the best team around. So maybe that's part of the whole thing...go at us, since we are an easy target with the 26 years and Giants World Championship dynasty and all...we appear to be the big guy, but in reality, dealing with facts and results, we are the little guy. So they pick on us...
I've said this from the beginning and will stick by it, Jamie Shields plus Zach Lee>>>>>Brandon McCarthy plus Brett Anderson. That is mostly why I didn't like this signing. Now is this injury another "flukey" injury? I guess we will have to wait longer to evaluate this because he is going to be done for the foreseeable future. You see, elbow pain and pitchers don't mix well.
