dodgers nation recently had a poll asking who/what was more of a priority; re-signing greinke or hiring the right manager so no one has to feel the need to succumb to peer pressure, i've made voting on this poll is 100% anonymous so no one will know who voted or how they voted have at it bkitches...
Managers don't mean much IMO. I know that's not a popular opinion, but when you already think they don't factor in much going along with the position being marginalized by FOs around the league, well.
not sure how many games (if any) a good manager wins for his team but a poor manager can definitely cost you games imo it's like lending your car to someone... a good driver returns it in the condition they received it in; maybe fills it with gas and gets it washed but a poor driver can really fuck things up i wish there was a credible WAR-type stat for managers -- the leader would probably be 1.5 but the bad managers would probably be something like -5.5
if we were to [hypothetically] sign zack, price and cueto i'd take my chances with any of the rumored managing candidates but no matter who you sign to manage, there had best be some good players or else
well, it appears we've at least we (re-)signed the right pitching coach... http://www.dailysportspages.com/index.php?threads/honeycutt-to-stay.8185/
Agreed. It's been too long since we had the right skipper and with the youth movement and Puig's crazy ass in tow I'm looking forward to having a skipper that can groom the youth and steer them in the right direction. We can make due with Price and others behind CK. Greinke may be great for the next 3 years, but I want a pillar at manager that can facilitate for the next 10+ and oversee Corey's rise and mold Joc, etc.
We had the greatest of Zack, and still watched two other fucking teams AGAIN play for it all...not only Zack, but lots of other NL/ML leaders in offensive and defensive categories...and the same dead, boring , bullshit results as always. And not only this year, either. I'm assuming the "right" manager means a winning in WS manager...because that's my citeria right about now...so if we can get there with the " right" skipper, that in my own landslide, I guess. But it's hard to know about managers straight off, and Greinke is pretty much a given.
I voted Zack, but after I voted, I agree with @Bluezoo. We had the best we can expect of him and we still lost.
