Paxton, in reality, with the tax level they are in now, is a 25M$ signing, and clearly they knew it.
They must have really, really wanted this fucking guy. Damn.
I don't quite get it myself based on his actual career numbers and non- sturdiness, and his age, but for even only one season, is he worth this kind of outlay ?

nothing weird about it. Dodgers needed exactly a back end of the rotation starter who was preferably left handed because literally every other starting pitcher option we have is right handed besides Yarbrough. This signing has zero impact on Kershaw. whether he comes back is totally up to him.

think is upside was probably too good to pass up. Yarbrough is a low K pitcher who barely throws 85 or whatever he throws. This could be another Tyler Anderson type signing.

Look, I never doubt our coaching staff because we know they are incredible at turning guys around. Paxton's peripherals are all highly mediocre to me, coupled with the injury history is ehhh. Sure we have no lefties outside of Yarbrough, but it's just kind of funny to sign a lefty...just to sign a lefty (which is clearly what this move is). I don't remember any rule book that indicates each rotation must have one lefty.

Ultimately, I don't really care, it's a low risk contract with some upside. I just personally don't love Paxton.

Also, I literally said the signing doesn't impact Kershaw lol

Beltre to the Hall. Oh what might have been. Might have been a better fielder than hitter. Cannon for an arm (loved those flat-footed throws) and no one made the play coming on the slow roller than Beltre.

If I recall correctly he signed with Seattle for slightly more money. Played in a pitcher friendly stadium in Seattle and didn't come close to his production his final season in LA.

    Fuck you, Scott Boras.

Beltre is a threat to democracy, so not the wrong thread imo.

I know it's the wrong thread, but there's one more add-on point to be made here.

It's not just that we lost out on the rest of Beltre's HOF career, but if he stayed in LA we wouldn't have needed Blake, which means we'd have had Santana and his 300+ homers (at least most of, until Will took over) at catcher. There's a huge difference between Carlos and AJ Ellis. With Beltre and Santana joining Kemp, Ethier, and a combination of Manny, Hanley, and AGon, I'm convinced the Giants would not have three rings from that era. So yeah, what could've been... and fuck Boras.

Guess mediocrity with a bad injury record is one expensive mofo these days.
I'm just behind the times...I should know better...bought 3 fucking apples this morning.
    Cost me $3.67.

Former Dodgers pitcher Noah Syndergaard is reportedly drawing interest from the San Diego Padres. How would you feel about seeing Syndergaard on the Padres next season?

the “how would you feel” remark is even more hilarious when you see all the padre fans on twitter begging for SD to sign him

If a pitcher can't get right on the Dodgers, it's not happening anywhere else.

Syndergaard should retire and go into coaching. I don't know what the fuck whoever operated on his arm did to it, but they completely fucked it up

Per ESPN's Buster Olney, the reigning NL champion Arizona Diamondbacks are talking to Joc Pederson about being their DH.
