Inspired by Irish's 10 Albums thread, where for whatever reason some really good artists went unmentioned. In some cases it may have been because their best songs were spread across several albums (The Ramones) instead of putting them all one one (The Knack). Whatever. Go ahead and choose the complete works of 10 bands/artists you'd take to that island with you.

Note: I thought this would be easier, but it was actually much tougher. I might have to do what Irish did and come back with another 10.

    Talking Heads
    Elvis Costello
    David Bowie
    The Doors
    The Ramones
    The Beatles
    The Cure
    The Clash
    Grass Roots
    Jethro Tull

    3. Little Feat
    4. The Who
    5. The Kinks
    6. Pink Floyd

And I still left out thirty great bands

    Seriously .... fuck you guys.

I forget his name, but the promoter who owned an LA rock club was on Adam Carolla last year ... he said, with over a thousand bands he'd seen from the Beatles to The Smiths over 35 years, he never saw a more powerful & captivating live performance than The Knack in 1979 ... FWIW.

In Bill Graham's bio he claims the greatest live performer he ever saw was Otis Redding.

    The Beatles
    The Cure
    Depeche Mode
    The Smiths/Morrissey
    Elton John
    Oingo Boingo
    Blink 182
    Radiohead
    Neil Young (yeah, I know)
    Pixies

Because I pay the bills, I get to break the rules and name a baker's dozen:
    CCR
Lynyrd Skynyrd (just to balance out Neil Young)
    Bauhaus

I do my best to ignore Neil's world views because his music is so good. He and Stills carried Nash and Crosby.

i was never a huge doors fan tbh
always seemed like that music was playing when i happened upon daytime burners and resident loadies
not that i didn't dabble but it wasn't the life i wanted to live
still i think they hold a place in time that can't be replaced
Morrison danced straight into the flame
    Manzarek and Krieger created magic

Way too many good bands. Here's a few with a lot of omissions. I'm obviously a British Invasion/Woodstock era man.

    *seen them live

    Stones*
    Beatles
    Who*
    Humble Pie*
    Zeppelin*
    Kinks*
    Allman Bros.
    Talking Heads
    any band with Johnny Winter*
    Cream
    Hendrix Experience
    Rory Gallagher*
    Fleetwood Mac (Peter Green era)
    Deep Purple
    Canned Heat (Woodstock version)

Humble Pie was fourth bill at the Fillmore West the night I saw them. It was their first West Coast tour. Saw them later shortly after the Rockin' the Fillmore LP.

Incredible live act. Cranking up I Don't Need No Doctor as I type.
