Yea but my point is, let's wait to see Guerrero play before we start saying he's not ready. If he's falling all over himself in spring training maybe we make a trade. I just think it is impossible that Dee Gordon is our answer.
I really don't think there is going to be an issue with Guerrero. He may not be an all-star, and he may still be learning the position, but he can't be worse than Dee. If he's league average, I'm fine with that.
Did puig make the opening day roster after he hit .500 in ST? If Guerrero hits .500 there will be no doubt he's starting at 2B to start the season.
see, here's the thing...Puig went to ST as a long shot to make the opening day 25 last year. Guerrero is going into ST as the lead candidate for 2B...Colletti has said that 2B is his to lose. so there's a big difference. so hitting .500 or not...let's all hope that Guerrero can just hold on to the job. they're also supposedly interested in Figgins...and he's been worse than Dee. can Figgins resurrect his career as a utility/spot start guy? who knows? but it was said that he still ran well and looked good in the field at his workout.
Actually, no. Puig wasn't a long shot to make the OD roster, he was a no shot. The brass said he would not break camp with the club before ST was half over. Of course the way he was belting the ball was making everyone believe that they would back track, ...and they didn't. I saw that Mark Reynolds just signed a minor deal so the choices get slimmer. I still say the Cuban gets the job and is a serviceable player at 2nd. I has spoken.
true indeed...the brass was saying " no shot " and they made good on that. i just remember some thinking that Puig's contract would force them to deal Ethier and open up the spot for Puig and that was before his ST performance. i'm not sure what Mark Reynolds would've done for us, but yeh, Guerrero's situation is totally different. he's in the driver's seat...should probably be in Puig's driver seat as well ( dun dun tshh)
Regular lineup we should see 125+ if healthy, which is a longshot, but anywho Crawford LF Puig RF Ramirez SS Gonzalez 1B Kemp CF Uribe 3B Guerrero 2B Ellis C Pitcher
i disagree in a few areas, but your lineup is as realistic as it gets. just imo, for Kemp's sake, hitting in front of Hanley will get him some fastballs, so i'd like to see him batting 2nd. i also think they need to build off Puig's good hitting in the middle of the order during the playoffs and throw that at him in this regular season...keep adding challenges little by little...i'd like to see Puig hittin cleanup and push AGon back to 5th. from there, i'd follow AGon with Guerrero just to make sure Guerrero has a better chance to get to the plate with runners on and pitchers are forced to deal with him. i fear Guerrero hitting behind Uribe and/or Ellis...
I think Guerrero could move up in the lineup if his bat is what it's said it could be, I just put him at 7 for now, because I haven't seem him play yet.
