No, it needs to be legal so people can sell it and the state can tax it, since it is easily attainable anyways, why not the state profit from it? Don't overthink it, I've never smoked that stuff once and never will
Thanks for your answer. Basically then, so people can legally sell it ( because people sure do sell it now), and so the state can tax something else people enjoy... Did you know that the increase in crime, car accidents and emergency room patients with serious injuries in the stae of CO since legalization of pot has risen substantially ? And in all three categories, THC in the bloodstream as a factor has risen expedentially? There's more to it than just taxation, imo. Just my tuppence.
Everyone that wanta to smoke weed already does. Kids dont need it to be legal. Kids get it easier than we do at school and elsewhere. If we all smoke weed our kids and grandkids wont be into it. Specially if its legal. Kids are wired to rebel. And today the cops are less prone to pit you in jail over an ounce of weed. Today. Tomorrow that shit can change harshly. Like the 70s to the 80s.
Imo parents shouldn't smoke weed and let their kids know Sets a bad example If you want the best chance at raising some good kids raise them with Asian culture ideologies
I agree abouy parents setting a good example. Good luck with that though. Do as i say not as i do is truth. Only dumb kids (we all were) think its hypocritical to preach whats good while doing whats bad. You made mistakes and now you live with them. Your sins are a part of you. Its a fool who wants to be a cool dad and not be called a hypocrite. The kids are born clean but right off the bat they get dunked in the waters of the world. And they filthy. The foul waters of culture and society. The foul example of leaders in church state school and yes the home. Nobody gets out of this clean. The best thing though is to keep our kids as clean as possible as long as possible. Let them preserve their innocense. The sooner they know the truths of this world the sooner they get jaded and start to die inside. But theres an app for that. Rebirth.
Fully agree But there a societal angle as well Do you become a complete teetotaler as well? My wife did while they breastfed, which was hugely important I stopped all recreational anything for 15-20 years Until my kids got older and my wife started ranting Nancy Reagan While boozing freely in front of them It's a hypocrite thing, I'd rather mine, now adults, learn from me the good and the bad rather than be naive or learn from some random idiot But they never learned a hint until 16 ish Because you are right, when they are young all life is simply too important Do everything you can with your kids baseball, soccer, basketball, book club, science fair, scouts, Indian guides.. everything It all matters. Every practice. Every scrimmage. Every everything They grow far too quickly and your chance to make an impact in their lives wanes at the same astounding rate
OTOH its insane that the Fed just reaffirmed the marijuana will stay categorized the same as herion. WTF? really. Especially when the same gubberment agency owns a patent (6,630,507) on weed derivitives waxing on how beneficial it is to so many things “Cannabinoids have been found to have antioxidant properties, unrelated to NMDA receptor antagonism. This new found property makes cannabinoids useful in the treatment and prophylaxis of wide variety of oxidation associated diseases, such as ischemic, age-related, inflammatory and autoimmunediseases. The cannabinoids are found to have particular application as neuroprotectants, for example in limiting neurological damage following ischemic insults, such as stroke and trauma, or in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and HIV dementia.” So which is it Mr Fed?? No public benefit to any human for any reason whatsoever? Like heroin? Or is it just another mild inebriate and one that causes far less crime, grief and physical damage than alcohol and one that actually helps with seizures and a wide variety of other maladies I have a buddy who was Asst Police Chief of a SoCal town for 26 years who shared that in 26 years he had never once had to respond to a disturbance caused by a pot smoker whereas in the same time he had to answer 6-8 calls per shift, many violent regarding alcohol consumers every single night Pot became illegal only because of Hearst and DuPont One trying to sell forest timber for his newspapers the other trying to sell newly invented plastic nylon rope Today the US Navy still uses hemp rope on ships greater tensile strength per diameter and great resistance to wear and rot So the gubberment openly grows it in Alabama but only for the stems Umm hmmm Okey dokie then
I just don't think the legalizing pot issue is that big a thing in the overall scheme of things. People that enjoy it can still enjoy it and have a good time, and the law is getting to the point where it's pretty much looks the other way on it. I certainly don't think people should be jailed for using it, just let it be, at least for now. The CO stats are a bit alarming. Having a joint on top of a drink ot two, within legal limits, increases the buzz and decreases reaction time...it's just a dangerous combo if it's all done publically with impunity. Just my tuppence. There seems so many other issues infinitely more important. Boutique issue in an armageddon election.
never openly imbibed around them but i was always making statements about everything in moderation and beyond alcohol and pot all the other shit will kill you alcohol will kill you but its legal and above all i just told them the truth from the first questions about where we go when we die
It doesn't pay to forsake traditional parenting...no way, imo. My friends and I were all hippie ( looking, anyway) types, but all had jobs. That was the time it was, and we all married and had families. I did lots of stuff, but never in front of my kid...my wife was 99% straight as an arrow about drugs. So, no problem, there. But I did have friends who openly smoked every day in front of their children, and generally lived the hippie lifestyle openly. They had two very hot daughters...both daughters smoke still to this day, were divorced multiple times each, and have nothing but problems, the same as they had, with their own children...in spades. A really difficult time for both pf them. I know plenty of similar tales, also. It just doesn't pay.
What makes it a big issue, IMO, is that by regulating it as an industry, state and federal government have the golden goose they so badly need. Want to lower taxes? Offset it by taxing weed, and licenseing distributors. Want to subsidize education? Let the heads pay for it. Want to give tax credits to business? Pay for it with fines from illegally grown weed. By regulating the growth and sale of weed, the government has the opportunity to not only provide funding, but also the ability to undercut the price and drive the illegal market to a halt. IMO, doing so would negatively impact cartels and positively impact crime rates. But what the fuck do I know about weed???
You are missing the bigger picture and its why you dont understand why things are like they are. The US government has deep ties to the international drug trade. We go to war for the best Opium out of Afghanistan, make deals for the finest Coke with Colombia, and get our weed directly from the cartels south of the border. Make pot completely legal would cut deep into their profits. Profits that dont get to be on the books. Profits that are used to fund black ops with untraceable money. That is the reason they hold the key patents to cannabis medicine. Its like how Microsoft or Google or any of those big software giants buys a rivaling product and then kills it. Or when movie studios buy a script or a movie just to shelve it. If they think it competes with their core business they will eat the losses.
