The gods are gods because they hunt for their bacon. That makes them powerful.
Their power is not in contention.
It is undeniable and understood by all.
More than that it is accepted.
It is like like the rising and the dawning of the sun.
To fight against that would be madness.
But to fight for it... well that makes you a sun worshipping nazi.

The giants are giants because they eat yet they do not hunt. They are fine with what is provided to them and stay away from the gods soon to sore eyes.
Where did giants come from?
From the gods of course.
Gods who mated with women of a minor caste.
Their servant woman perchance.
Or the whore.
Or the not so distant relative.
They still minors in the scheme of things.
Minors for life.
Until they get their patient revenge.

The giants always lose.
They are born to lose.
Giants arent called that at birth.
At least not originally.
They were called oafs.
Because their birth was an oops.
And they were born deformed.
At least to the social construct of honor and dignity of the father.
A born loser is someone who woulda been smashed upon a rock at birth pre Abraham.
For their ugly or stupid or weakness or lack of zest.
Anything other than perfection was insant death.
Being a god is only for gods.
Not for weak devils.

Of course they couldnt keep smashing babies. There was always some softy who would spare the baby by sending him away as a changeling of some sort.
Some would survive being thrown of a cliff or left exposed to die by nature.
They would meet up with escaped slaves and shipwrecked sailors carrying heavy anchors leaving them moored to shore.

And in medieval darkened times they would be called an Elf or a Pixie or a Brownie or a Goblin or a Gnome or a Dwarf. Thr same would also be called Moron or a Pygmy or a Retard, or a Hun or a Mongol or Christian all words for a consevative tarred and feathered individual with dated ideals now seen as being a barbarian madman in the old modern world of death and formalities.
