For me the issue seems to be that he wants his cake and eat it too in a sense at the plate, but he's sacrificed his fundamentals in doing so. I watched some of the slo-mos of his swing, and it looks god awful. He's late reacting, his lower body is out of sync, and his shoulders are not square at all at the point of contact. What I think he's trying to do is to"watch" the pitch too long before swinging, and so he's late with everything. Maybe in his head he's thinking it will allow him to make more consistent contact and whiff less. But it's doing the opposite. He's late, not generating power, chasing too many pitches, and not generating enough power to do anything. And it almost seems like he's just willing to take the walk. Does he have the head to realize he needs to fix this? His first couple of years, it was all physical talent. But major league pitchers are going to find you out eventually, and you need to adjust and fix bad habits.
He just hit one oppo the other day against STL...probably would've been caught by anyone that could jump over 2 sheets of paper, but it got out. And of course LAD was already out front in the game, the front-runner he's become. Big peaks, huge valleys...when I questioned Puig's consistency at the beginning of the 2015 season I was the bad guy Lol I da guy who shoot it straight, mang..you need guys like me
Pretty sure he had reaped the rewards of a year long steroid binge when he first made it. Ain't seen anything like it since Mannywood. Very similar. @LAFord would agree. Haha.
That was a lazy fly ball that found its way into the lower level seats inside the foul pole. Newbie Puig used to drive them 10 rows deep into the right-center field pavilion. Hadn't seen power like that in that direction since Piazza.
ha ha But seriously. When Kemp was at his peak, he used to effortlessly launch towering homeruns half-way up the right field bleachers
I don't know if it's true or not...but Puig has been seen cavorting with "her"....she may have drained him of his vital juices, explaining why his power has waned. He, uh...needs to wax.
his brief greatness was a long time ago doesn't seem like the brightest individual tbh and takes some of the poorest routes on fly balls i've ever seen i miss the player he was but i don't miss the player he's become
Yup, May 17th and his season is over. Seriously though, he seems to have all the tools but none of the ability to adjust. Pitchers have adjusted to him but he has not yet begun to adjust to the pitchers. If he does, he will fulfill your expectations. If he doesn't, then he will go the way of the Hanley Bird.
i like the pig but like TB said i just want him to hit baseballs his season isn't over but compared to the way he started this season it certainly has been a let down
Everyone is anxious for offense. So they can start bitching about the pitching. Or defense. Puig may not come around, but mid May is too soon to judge. I myself don't start getting worried till at least mid June. We have a new hitting coach, and things have to develop over the course of the schedule. I want a championship as much as the next guy, but I'm not ready to scuttle the plan for it has a chance to form.
Yasiel Mendoza. Going to be playing for the Kea Tigers in Korea before we know it, like many great roiders before him. Guys a dud.
yeah he's been hitting balls harder lately which is a good sign but like noted above he's lost at the plate too many times. Lost. in space. listening to a Rube rant no one else can hear
Its ok, i can relate. Therse a song whose lyrics i sing all the time and whose music im always dancing to without ever having heard it play or known the words. And i been hitting it harder too.
