So we're trading a player who has accumulated 8 WAR the last 2 seasons for Callaspo, Eric fucking Stults, and 2 minor leaguers? I understand things are different now with Uribe, but that's a little underwhelming for me.
Obviously that HR against the Braves was the crowning moment of my uribe love but I will never forget the funny dugout hi jinks between him, Hanley, puig and ryu not to mention the outfits and clubhouse videos.
I mean, we'll see tomorrow and in the coming days what happens with the roster but the FO has proven they always have a bigger picture in mind. Getting Olivera playing time is probably the main part of this move, along with clearing a little bit of salary I guess. *shrug*
This trade seems very shitty. The Withrow part is weird, I wonder if Conte and medical people think he's toast or what, cause why include him when he seems to be better then the two random relievers they got? And the two relievers they got aren't good, I don't see them fitting. Eric Stults can log innings I guess but feel like Lee and Wieland are better options. Shit, you could argue that Nicasio starting is a better option. I didn't think Uribe could get much value and maybe I'm making too much of a deal that in the end won't mean much but jsut seems at first glance that the Dodgers included the two best players in the deal. Again, with the disclaimer that we have no idea what Withrows status is like
I'm pretty meh on this trade, don't hate necessarily but meh Callaspo is a worse Uribe replacement (meh), Stults is trash, Ian Thomas is a potential LOOGY (could have some use idk), Juan Jamie is a potential Withrow replacement (throws 95-100 MPH, walks everybody)
I mean this is better then a straight up Uribe DFA that might have been coming soon. The Withrow part is the very weird one to me, but like I said, maybe the medically idk. If it is cause of something the medical staff said and Withrow ends up good to great then fire Conte.
