It's all fun and games until it turns out that Puig's "#SeeYouSoon" means he's driving to Rosenthal's house to beat his ass.

Heat of the moment at the deadline notwithstanding, you have GOT to vet your stories or look like a horse's ass.

Had this been ESPN and a black player involved they'd fire him.

Ken straight up blew those one. Maybe they should send his ass down to the minors too?

I really think this is a tempest in a teapot due to Rosendouche's effort at sensationalism. If Puig is the professional doing "work" like he says he is, then he should put in the real work his skill set deserves.

Being set down maybe the shock he needs to get it in gear.

Let's not repeat the Mondesi five tool failure from yesteryear.

Man, you keep talking about Mondesi in negative fashion.
I'm here to tell you right now...
if Puig becomes as productive as Mondesi was year in and year out then #Puigmyfriend

Yes, and gain 30 pounds and ends ups in Canada with nothing to show for it.

    Sorry, no thanks.

This was the worst of the "lets make the prospects work" era of the Dodgers.

baseball media bas decided to punish the dude for a while.
all sorts of lies keep coming and going
You cant make shit like he stormed off up.
Someone wrote that and handed it to rosendouche and told him to print the lie.
    Its a smear campaign.
A year down the line folks will still have a visceral memory of how they felt when they learned that puig stormed off. Even if they know that it wasnt factually true.

Yeah, but that 8 year stretch where Mondesi hit no less than 24HRs and had an .821 OPS
Sign me up if that's Puig, fat or not.

Okay, I'll sign you up to no WS or playoffs in those 8 years.

Me. I'm not taking that bet.

So this could be somewhat interesting and I actually didn't even think about this until now. Over the last 2 years and 3 of the last 4, Reddick has been considerably better outside of O.Co. He puts up similar stats to those road numbers and the Dodgers are gonna have a dangerous addition to the lineup. An .875 OPS would be a fun addition to the lineup.

Let me add, we had 5 rookies in a row.....no WS, no NLCS..

Mmyeah, I'm not a believer in 1 man getting the blame for a team not making the WS or playoffs.
    In basketball, yes.
    In baseball and football, no.
24+HRs annually and an .821 OPS, I can ride with that, have always said so.
    That's not just Mondesi-like, it's Cespedes-like as well.
Oh and one change to this...Puig has to improve in the high leverage.
Gotta be better in the clutch and when his team needs a good AB, gotta be trustworthy.
Cespedes is a gangster in the clutch, and Mondesi got it done at a respectable clip in those spots as well.

You should look at Puigs road numbers.
Its his production at dodger stadium that sinks his numbers down. He does well on the road.

The difference is that Puig's home games are in a neutral park so the numbers should not be skewed greatly. Reddick on the other hand played in the worst place for a hitter in the league, so his numbers should see a bump outside of playing there 50% of the time.

Puig can't hit a fastball right down the middle.

Hopefully he works it out eventually.

Like I said, we had 5 rookies in a row, so no, I'm not putting the blame on Mondesi alone. It's the thought that rookies and prospects will save the day all the time, in all situations. Mondesi was maybe the most talented of the 5, and therefore the most disappointing. Sounds like Puig to a T unless Puig really eats humble pie and actually decides to improve in the minors.

He does what a lot of young undisciplined hitters do when they see a fat pitch, their eyes get big and they try to hit it out of the park by swinging out of their shoes. When this happens, the bat gets flat and it drags through the zone causing them to be behind the pitch. When Puig stays within himself, compact and short to the ball, he is a lethal hitter, the problem is far too often he gets away from his best quality. When he first came up, he did a great job of hitting to all fields, but he has lost that somewhat during his struggles and it's because he is not repeating his swing. It's why when he comes back from long layoffs that he'll tend to come back on fire since he'll have been working on the swing. I really hope he learns to stay within himself and begins to repeat his mechanics on a regular basis. He does that and he will be back to being a dangerous hitter. It's just whether or not he can repeat that and keep it up over a full season.
