When we are in the same sentence as the marlins we have issues. The only good thing is that other "LA" team sucks worse than we do.
I think it's time to panic. I'm pretty optimistic but to me the problem isn't that we are gonna be this bad all year; We're not. We're not this bad, and injuries have KILLED US. but what scares me is that whenever we get healthy and/or good, that the team won't be fantastic enough to make up for whatever hole they are going to put themselves in. They are going to get better but how much better are they going to need to be to offset what is happening? (and what might continue to happen with the current injuries mixed with the slumps) They might need to exceed expectations when everyone comes back or for a period of time and thats what sucks. I'd feel fine if the team simply needed to be somewhat as good as they are suppose to be, but if we need to rely on the team being better than expected for an important stretch it might be hard. I just hope that we luck out some stretches and the pitching+offense lumps itself together to win some games and that we get healthy FAST.
League has gone from very effective to a steaming pile of shit. Wow, does he suck lately. Full gram Brandon....
Except for Clayton and to some extent Ryu our whole staff has sucked as of late. I would love to see Zach Lee called up!!! Shake shit up dammit.
He's not ready, only has 20 AA starts. Maybe in August, by that time he will have over 30 starts, but it's also possible that he could be traded by then.
Yeah I dont think Lee will ever pitch for the Dodgers in the majors. Will be a Marlin, Mariner, or Padre by year's end.
traded for whom??? wont be Marlin as the only thing worth something there is Stanton, and we have 4 OFs... Mariners I dont see what they could offer worth Lee... Padres sure if its a Headley trade... but knowing Ned, he will be a Philly in a trade for Chase Utley or Jimmy Rollins...
I could see a Lee and Puig for Stanton trade, Lee for Kyle Seager or Lee+ for Headley would also be unsurprising
Puig to Marlins is impossible as he's owned a shit load of money... Lee for Kyle would be pathetic... we have the better brother about 2.5 years away... Headley is completely possible, but he's overrated...
7M per year for Puig is a bargain and everyone knows it Lee for Kyle would be good for us. Top 10 3B for a future 3rd starter. 30 HR w/ plus defense at 3B is tough to overrate but you may be right! In any case, he's extremely good
A shitload of money? He's (Puig) a bargain compared to Stanton reaching FA. Puig is under team control for quite awhile for only $42M right? Stanton is creeping up on a huge payday.
Seattle was offering ANYTHING, ANYTHING AT ALL for Ethier. They also wanted Dee. So, maybe you get to keep your top pitching prospect, get a starting third baseman and bring up Puig all in the same conversation.
the tone of this thread shows DSP readers view the Dodger farm system in the same myopic view as the front office. The legendary Dodger farm system, improperly dismantled by thieving crooks, used to provide a steady proving ground and flow of already tested players for the big club. And it worked great. We always had the fresh stud pitcher etc. Viewing our younger players merely as trade assets for someone else's tried and true slightly better piece of shit player is insane. As soon as anyone proved themselves worthy of unlimited big league at bats at his first free agency he became a Yankee, made stupid $$ and helped them win 27 rings. We can try all we want to emulate that, as it appears we're trying, but then we'd be keeping any and all 'assets' and using renewable $$ to just buy players. The big money baseball play is to own the best 8 fielders at each and every position Not one of. or someone who might be an upgrade if things go right. Anyone who's good enough for productive MLB at bats is kept. Our problem is that we're nowhere near that stage yet and we're relying on career minor leaguers to step up their play when it's been shown for years that they can barely tread water at the MLB level. Guys like Cruz, Sellers and Uribe should not even be Dodgers let alone starters. You choose farm "or" acquisition when you're broke. We're not broke anymore. We're just playing like it. I want the best hitting 8 fielders (murderers row) and the best 4 starters (think Orioles legend 4x20 win team) each of whom get giant cash bonuses for CG's. And I want the next Mariano Rivera out of the pen. And I want us to own by far the best Latin American farm team. Good enough to thump Padres and Marlins themselves. Think about Puig slumping for two weeks and still hitting .935 OPS!! That is what we need at every position. Fuck too raw. That is raw talent! Go get more raw talent NOW!! Who is the single best player at each position? OK sign them. All of them. That is how money plays baseball. And do we have $$ or $$$ or do we have $$$$$$$$$$. Last I looked these GG guys are some of the exact ones who walked away with all of the crooked Wall St coin so it appears that we have plenty of $$$$$$$$$$. So? So go buy Miguel Cabrera if we need a 3B. Contract schmontract.. buy it out! Think like Donald Trump. WTF? We have the $$$$$$$$$$ or do we have the $$$$$$$$$$??? So what is the hold up? And then go get his switch hitting slugger cousin Javier from Venezuela already and lock his ass up too!
I think we should continue the trend of bringing up players that have raw talent before they learn how to play baseball properly and be sure they are still to immature to deal with real life, and MLB baseball failures. It's also a bonus when they don't listen to coaching staff.
