Maybe the old chubster is dealing with some health shit, and it effects his broadcast.
You never know what battles others are fighting, as Robin Williams said, ironically.
I remember the iconic Vin with Jeff Kunt, repetition of Uggla means owl in Swedish, and a whole host of other faux pas...get ready for Joey and a deluge of like gaffs...maybe for years.

    Steiner's voice is good.
I hate the Joe Davis generic sound that every modern announcer has.
Vin, Charlie, John Miller all have baseball voices.
The problem with Steiner is he's a radio guy yet he does not know how to paint a picture for an audience who cannot see the action.
I used to choose the first three innings on radio instead of tv just to hear Vin do the simulcast because the way he painted the picture was so incredible. Never a misleading call.

Early rumors about the trade deadline are that the asking prices for established players are VERY high. Jerry Dipoto mentioned that the talk is a lot of prospect for prospect deals, though that could also be due to that being like the only players they have. A lot of teams are dying for starting pitching right now, so expect a premium on that. I wonder with the Dodgers issues at 2B and their LHB's if we may see Lux at the start of this series so the club can assess the one area that is a bit of a question mark.

Not many teams are rumored to be sellers in the early going, though the Angels are said to have begun fielding calls. Some other teams and names to watch in my opinion:

    • Phillies: They do not look particularly good and though they would like to sign J.T. Realmuto, they were not able to do so when they did try. He will be a FA at the end of the season and he is off to a monster start to the year. The Dodgers are said to be incredibly high on Realmuto and have been trying to pick him up for years. While the club has a bevy of good young catching options, the org could ultimately try to throw all their chips into an elite lineup basket in also hopes of re-signing him long term and shipping out some of their young catching in the off season to fill holes elsewhere.
    • Giants: Their FO is not afraid to make a deal with our FO and each have stated that. Zaidi has shown a love for Dodgers org castoffs in his short run with his new club and both teams could come together on a deal for SP Kevin Gausman. He has not been overwhelmingly amazing, though he has looked solid in both his starts against us. Gausman looks like better pitcher at the back of the rotation than what we are currently throwing out there and the Dodgers were said to have been #2 behind the Giants in their bidding for him in the offseason. Another way the club could utilize Gausman is that of a fireballing reliever that could potentially get the club multiple innings.
    • Mariners: If the Dodgers don't feel that Lux is up to the task this year and they want to see a better bat at 2B, one option could be a rearrangement of the deck chairs with an addition of a new 3B. Kyle Seager is under team control only for 2 more seasons and with Justin Turner already offering to move off 3B in the offseason, the club could choose to slide him across the diamond and move Muncy to full time 2B. Seager has had a great bounce back year and is swinging the stick better than he ever has while handling a solid 3B. He is also under team control for two more seasons at a palpable $33.5M total with Turner being due for free agency at the end of the year.
    • Angels: This could be tough due to the fallout from the offseason trade that never happened. Dylan Bundy has looked excellent in the early going and could be a surprise addition to the middle of the Dodgers rotation. He got beat up by the Giants the other night, but aside from that, he has looked more like the guy scouts thought he was going to be years ago. The trick with him is that he has 2 years of control and the Angels may want to go all in next season. Ross Stripling could be floated again as he still has 2 more years of control.

Any chance the Dodgers are seeking a RH bat?

Monday and Ross Porter were famous (or infamous) for talking over game action. They never let the game get in the way of a story.

Doubt it is at the top of their list since the lefties are the ones that have been struggling this year.

Adding Realmuto to this team would be incredible. We have two chips in Ruiz and Smith, so we could trade one for a rental and still be fine if we don't re-sign Realmuto (although I would expect us to try). Smith's game, in particular, seems like it would play very well in Philadelphia based on his high fly ball rate.

all we maybe need is a right handed bench bat and I still think a left handed arm. McGee, Kolarek, Victor, and Alexander are ok but not sure I really trust them much in high leverage spots

not gonna be too upset if they don’t get anyone though

    right on cue...

Will the Dodgers make a big move?

In recent seasons, the Dodgers have been active around the trade deadline. In 2016, they acquired Rich Hill and Josh Reddick from the A's (and traded a little-known prospect named Yordan Alvarez for reliever Josh Fields). In 2017, it was Yu Darvish, plus a couple of relievers. In 2018, it was Manny Machado to fill in for the injured Corey Seager, plus Brian Dozier and David Freese. Last year, they were a little more quiet, adding a couple of spare parts in Jedd Gyorko and Adam Kolarek, but mostly relying on rookie call-ups Will Smith and Gavin Lux as the major additions. Maybe things would have turned out differently if Dave Roberts had used Kolarek to face Juan Soto in Game 5 of the division series instead of Clayton Kershaw -- Kolarek had faced Soto three times in the series and gotten him all three times, including two strikeouts.

The Dodgers are loaded once again. The rotation has depth with Kershaw, Walker Buehler, Julio Urias, Dustin May and Tony Gonsolin, who hasn't allowed a run in three starts. The bullpen looks much deeper and better than it was last year, when Roberts' ultimate lack of faith in his relievers led him to use Kershaw in relief against the Nationals. They have Kolarek, Jake McGee and Caleb Ferguson from the left side, with Kenley Jansen, Blake Treinen, Dylan Floro, Pedro Baez and Brusdar Graterol from the right side. Really, the biggest problem so far is Cody Bellinger, Max Muncy and Joc Pederson -- the three big lefty power bats -- are all hitting under .200. You're going to ride those three, although Dodgers fans will be quick to point out Bellinger is a career .178/.234/.326 hitter in the postseason.

Speaking of Dodgers fans, are they completely confident in Jansen, who has a 0.87 ERA and is 7-for-7 in save opportunities? No, and they won't be, not until he gets that final out in the clinching game of a World Series. If Mariano Rivera wants to come out of retirement, maybe you give him the job, but I don't see the Dodgers trading for Workman, Trevor Rosenthal or Ken Giles and trusting them with closer duties. This is your team, Dodgers fans, and it still looks like the best team in baseball. No additions necessary.

Don’t see Dodgers going after Realmuto. Too much of a luxury with Will Smith. I know Smith BA is not great but he been hitting ball hard. Just bad luck.

His XBA (expected batting average) is .309. Actually higher than last year.

Don’t see with Kyle Seager either. Another luxury. Unless Seattle gets a huge package. He is not blocking prospects nor is he a big salary.

Don’t mind taking a flyer on Gausman if price is right. Still kinda iffy on Bundy. Reminds too much of Ricky Nolasco.

Never had a lot of trust in Kolarek, McGee or Alexander, but all they've done is prove me wrong.

Wouldn't mind another RH bench bat. Bet Manny Mota could still come through in a pinch.

Realmuto could make sense for a number of reasons. He's a FA to be, so if they don't want to, they don't need to re-sign him. Granted then the price would have to fit. They have also pursued him in recent seasons even when they had a bevy of talent at the catching position. They could value his upside beyond Smith's and/or Ruiz and feel that if they signed him long term he would fill the gap to Cartaya. The other is how healthy Smith is right now. If he they are worried that he may not be ready to go, they may need to look for outside options. I am thrilled with what Barnes is doing, but I am still skeptical that it will continue. Seager is not really really a luxury when you look at next year and realize that we do not have a 3B. I am really worried that prospect development is going to be horribly stunted from this season, so getting someone that could fill potentially two more seasons before Hoese could become pretty valuable, especially at what he costs per year.

Sure with the Dodgers, many trades are luxuries, but remember what Friedman has said in recent years. The org does not need to go out and look for incremental additions, they have the prospect capital, money and depth that allows them to go big game hunting. Both Seager and Realmuto would fit that category.
