Are you guys too young to remember Thom Mcann shoes?
They were really popular here on the east coast.
I remember two of my duflus friends almost came to blows over the pronunciation of Thom.
But I also remember rolling in the dirt with someone who said the Duke sucked, and that Mickey and Willie were better.
Knowing full well they were right...

    Good shoes.
But like the dinosaur they about to go extinct.
    As is reality.
It is the end of the world as we know it.
The online is the new world.
Everyone knows what everyone who's anyone will try to mine the resources of the new world.
Everyones gotta get with the program.
And early bird gets the worm. Wood is everywhere. Materia prime.
You know that wood was the first thing used to make spirits?
Upp in the sala hall where the gods first burned the holy ash and the yule oak.
They would love that voodoo that that wood do when they released its word world.
Sorry I got off course but our program is being told its run its course.

The demos are moving the show online.
Evolution requires the old to die so the new can take over.
It is never slowly but it happens overnight.
The people whose jobs are online will be one class.
The people whose jobs are in the real world will be two class.
Real world will fall out of order.
It will become a role player and warm the bench.
A backup hard drive of the now primary drive.
    Essentially a slave.
    An essential slave.
    But a slave drive.
That is what a backup hard drive is called in the online.
Trust me, I have a certified certificate that says I am a competent Network+ technician.
Well I never got it certified certified.
And I do know about the red cable and the blue cable.
You learn that one on day one.
The wheels on this machine are turning.
The Demos had better candidates than Biden.
None of their hot draft picks wants to end their career getting an L against Trump.
The demos know that they will win against Trump because of the mail in voting fix.
    They know.
In case they lose they are running Biden.
Because if the fix works it doesnt matter who they run.
If it fails the draft pick becomes a bust and useless.
Kamala survives as the VP because she's a shark.
You know who else is a shark.
    The real world.
The digital world has built a new machine.
    It is nice.
    Too nice.
    Uncomfortably nice.
The paleo world is not so nice.
You have to make your blood get red sometimes.
The more you do it the better the real world system works.
The digital world makes your blood go blue.
And I know we all bleed Dodger blue.
But this aint that kind of blue.
    Our blue is blue heaven.
    Oxygen rich.
Not oxygen deficient royale with cheese.
That is how blood gets when it goes through a machine.
    And doesn't pump naturally.
    But mechanically.
Or if you really deficient manually.
The real world is now the old world.
And the old old world is where the six fingered stars go to hide.
Like the fallen stars of old.
The new world is a machine.
    Look up in the sky...
While monkeywrench and torch do some dirty deeds down below.

I'd be hesitant on guys who have been good for only the 28 or so games this year, like all of Seager, Bundy, and Gausman and rely more on what they have done the past couple years in assessing if they'd be positive additions. I personally don't think the Dodgers need to make any moves period.

agree to disagree on Realmuto. Another factor is the Phillies front office. They going all out to compete. Actually see them as buyers. They gonna go for a playoff spot.

Hunter Pence got DFAd ... ya know, he absolutely destroyed lefties last year, Dodgers have struggled against them this year and most of their bench bats and minor bats are left handed

wouldn’t be a bad idea honestly haha

he's been fine but now with DH, lineup against lefties is Bellinger, Seager, Enrique, Turner, Pollock, Betts, catcher, Taylor, and Muncy and so it wouldn't hurt to get one right handed bat in there in case any of those guys either: 1) Struggle against lefties (especially Muncy), 2) get hurt, or 3) you need a bench bat. Cause off the bench the main bats you're gonna have is Beaty, Edwin, and then you got lefties Lux, Mckinstry coming up... maybe right handed DJ Peters coming up.

Just it wouldn't hurt to get one more right handed bat IMO, it's the one obvious offensive flaw with this team.

    1) Pence has a career -69 dWAR, which is not something our FO covets
    2) Friedman and Farhan FaceTime everyday during their morning dumps, if the Dodgers were interested I’m sure they would have already struck a deal.
    3) It’s weird trying to say the Dodgers are good/bad vs x after 30 games.
    4) 8-1 vs left handed starters, so...
    5) Who are these lefty pitchers we are worried about? It seems like all the top pitchers in the NL are right-handed. Maybe Gore if he is up?
    6) I just don’t like Hunter Pence. If we want to avoid the Coronavirus, we shouldn’t sign a guy who looks like Coronavirus personified.

    • I'll be honest. I was not paying close enough attention to Will Smith, but have read a couple of items on him that have me changing my tune in regards to the club maybe pursuing another catching option. It would be nice to see the club at least go to 2/3 split with him and Barnes instead of 50-50. I know Barnes had been hitting the ball better, but the total lack of any pop is not great.
    • A Rockies reporter talked about Jake McGee and his resurgence with the Dodgers. It was a shot at how bad the Rockies are at getting the most out of there players, how good we are at finding gems and it also had an interesting deep dive into how McGee is looking at similar metrics to his 2014 self instead of anything in between. This includes some really good years in between, but if he is getting the same movement as he did in 2014 that doesn't mean that the Dodgers have unearthed a merely good pen option, it would mean they have turned McGee BACK into one of the best left handed relievers in the game. He is not seeing a return of the high 90's velocity he once had, though he is up over a tick from last season and has gotten stronger as the season has progressed. The team has focused on him utilizing his secondaries WAY less, getting back to better FB grip and he is also working on strengthening his hips, which is where the uptick in velo seems to be coming. For a guy that is throwing 96% fastballs, I have been thinking to myself that it is crazy how guys are not hitting him as the camera angle doesn't make the pitches look any more impressive. The thing is, his fastballs get about 6.5 inches of ride away from a RH'er and it's fairly late movement which is where the problems are for the batter. It will be interesting to see if can continue to get stronger as the season goes on as he is still trying to implement and get more comfortable with the changes that the Dodgers are making.
    • Ross Stripling needs to be moved out of the rotation. The season is now half over and we need to see what we have in Gonsolin cause it sure as hell looks a lot more special than Stripling. Ross has been a fantastic #5 starter, but is not someone that you want starting for you in the big game. I am not saying that is what Gonsolin is, but as of right now, he sure as hell looks more like someone who could compared to Strip. Dodgers Digest did a mini dive into Ross's struggles and it was interesting. FB velo has ticked up, but his slider use is way down and the pitch is not nearly as good as it once was. Him struggling to locate is a major problem right now and since that is what he relies on most of all, it is becoming a major issue. The Dodgers rotation is a bit scary right now and Strip struggling is not a great look going into the second half of the shortened season. Buehler and Kersh look great, but the struggles of Strip and Urias with the growing pains for May should have the FO looking to integrate a pitcher that has looked fantastic in the early going. Wood is not going to be the savior by any stretch and the FO acting as such is a bit worrisome. God damn I totally underestimated how HUGE of a loss that David Price has been.

    totally agree

and on that same note, does anyone know why gonsolin isn't with the mlb club right now? is it some sort of option/years issues or something else?

In an interview with Friedman during yesterday's game, he said it was predetermined that Gonsolin would come up, make 2 starts (even if his first start was bad), and then be sent back down so they could call up relief help during the 17 straight games stretch. I think now that he's down, he needs to stay down for at least 10 days before he can be called back up.

It's similar to when the Yankees called up Lou Gehrig to replace Wally Pipp, and it was predetermined that Gehrig would be sent back down as soon as Pipp's headache went away. Gehrig was sent back down and got another shot a few years later.

From the intrasquad today (LA Times report)

The Dodgers held an intrasquad game at Dodger Stadium mostly featuring players from their alternate training site at USC with a few exceptions. Alex Wood pitched three innings as he took the next step in his return from a shoulder injury. … Edwin Ríos, on the disabled list with a hamstring strain, took at-bats but didn’t run or play in the field. … Brusdar Graterol, a reliever on the major-league roster, also appeared in the game. ...Tony Gonsolin allowed five runs in 5-2/3 innings. The right-hander, who was optioned last week, threw 99 pitches. … Gavin Lux homered in each of his first two at-bats against Gonsolin. The Dodgers’ top prospect led off and played second base for one of the teams.
