It's like Vikings but about the different kingdoms of the Brits getting their shit together and uniting to fend off the Danes. And one Brit boy kidnapped by Danes who grows up a Dane and as a grown warrior has to decide which side is his to fight for. Your blood heritage and ancestral entitlements in your own motherland where u are considered an heir. Or family friends and fatherland where you are promised nothing more than being known and respected as a great warrior. BTW the Danes killed are your family while raping and pillaging which is how you became an orphan in the first place. And you saw them do it. But now you are a pillaging Viking too.
Nah...not in this lifetime. Guess I'm prejudiced though...I think Gervais a powerful creative force. I like Carell, he's a funny guy, but he carries Gervais's, and Merchant's jock.
The American version was made for laughs and was a good show. But the BBC version, and Gervais in particular, made the situations real. I mean they cut to the bone. It was as painful as it was funny. I think there was a lot more depth to the situations played in the BBC version. It's probably also why the BBC version was not meant to be a serial comedy until the ratings fell. It made a run and ended the story. I heard an interview on NPR with Gervais, and he said if you didn't know a David Brent like character at your office work, you were the David Brent character. That is so true. And yet you do feel sympathy in a strange way.
Thought the show was kind of cheesy compared to the book series. Godless. Its better than the trailer suggests The Alienist
i thought both versions were successful in getting to the pain lol but absolutely the British version did that better maybe since thats sort of a Gervais calling card
I'd recommend Norm McDonald has a Talk Show. He brings in comedians and actors and just shoots the shit with them. Reminds me a lot of Late Late Show with Craig Fergueson
To each his own, and it’s a topic where I will have to shrug and agree to disagree. It’s not even close to me, in the opposite direction.
you're right it changed my opinion anyway i respect Alan Ball as much as any writer (American Beauty, Six feet under) he has written some of my favorite all time stuff i was really ready to enjoy this w the opening scenes and knowing he was at least lending his name to it but i guess we have different tastes in what entertains us violence and nudity are fine but it seems like that dominates without much of a story line really surprised Ball would be an executive producer on a show like this hung in through 3 episodes on the recommendation but honestly it insults me even on a fantasy level can't go on lol
I'm definitely not with the French, and honestly have only seen a few minutes of Jerry Lewis on screen in my life. I find the American Office to have more heart than its counterpart. Of course, it has like 10x the episodes too. It fizzled towards the end, but seasons 2-4 is some of the best TV ever made. The reason I don't really like the British/original Office is probably the same reason you like it. I find it more uncomfortable than anything, and that's not really what I'm looking for after a day of work, commuting, and another Dodgers' loss. Then again, I like Nathan For You, and that's uncomfortable humor... So maybe I really just don't like the funny accents.
im ok if there isn't a story line and its all action ala pulp fiction whatever but i just started hating it everyone is a master of hand to hand and the fight scenes went on and on didn't like any of the characters either i know i'm in the minority based on the imdb i actually went and read some of the reviews on it after watching and amidst the glowing ones i found this one "I have no idea how this can have such an high rating. Plot is bad, characters are worse, acting is wors...er. Everything is so stupid, so uninteresting, i have no idea how could anyone appreciate this. Oh and on top of that it is full of extreme violence and sex...which would be a very good thing if those scenes were contextualized or useful to the story. But they are there just to impress the viewer, and they miserably fail. I don't know what else to say, there are a lot of things i don't like but i'm awere that it is a personal opinion. But this is so bad on so many levels that it's objectively horrible." pretty much how i felt and just expected a LOT more from Ball that asian tranny martial arts computer savant was ridiculous Ball is an openly gay man and loves to try and shock the viewer but that was lame teho
Fair enough.. I don't get it but hey, lots of people voted for Hillary too!!! Try "Money Heist". We binged that one a couple weeks ago and enjoyed it. Another good one is "The man in the high castle". Much more cerebral.
Oy...funny accents? Bloody wanker. Just remember one thing boyo, the Dodgers lose in my world, too. Just wait ' till next year...
Everything is streaming on demand these days... maybe we should just skip next baseball season and watch all the 1988 games instead. We could even binge watch it, be done by the end of May, then go enjoy our summer.
we'd enjoy it that team had much less talent than any dodgers ws team but 100x more heart not the best dodger team by any stretch, but one of my favorites twas truly a magical season one we haven't seen the likes of since nor will likely ever again
The British Office is basically a dark comedy with one self-contained story arc. The American Office is a sitcom. Both were the best at what they did. That said, I prefer to watch the American Office. Not even close.
