i knew it would eventually leak with the media, but chris put us on to the clubhouse issue long before this came out. where there's smoke, there's fire.

if Kemp is a model teammate/leader..he's probably a Dodger today and going forward. but he was a son of a bitch/diva about his situation and probably jealous of Puig. complained about the sacrifice that he had to make when others were sacrificing as much if not more than he was. i mean Hanley didn't even bitch about having to hit the bench late in games. Kemp got what he wanted in this and we eventually got what we could for a guy with his rep/injury history. like VRP said, Grandal is one of the best, if not very best, pitch framers and the young guy does rake in Dodger Stadium. there's talent there and we need it at that position. and then of course Eflin is going to Philly for Rollins, so the deal worked to get us a leadoff/defensive whiz/leader.

i don't see Rollins as stopgap necessarily..if he's still great defensively that's huge at SS and so Seager could debut @ 3B either next year or sometime during the 2nd half because i'm pretty sure Uribe is gone after this year. they could go with Rollins @ SS in 2016/Seager @ 3B if Rollins is still lookin worthy of that spot. Machado moved off SS for the good of the team..Seager could.

this rumor won't help ease those that are mad about the return they got for Kemp -

NL West Notes: Kemp, Kim, Giants, Arruebarrena
By Jeff Todd [December 11, 2014 at 4:11pm CST]
Before dealing Matt Kemp to one division rival, they were in deep talks with another about a deal, per Bob Nightengale of USA Today (via Twitter). The Diamondbacks rejected L.A.’s request for center fielder A.J. Pollock but was willing to ship top pitching prospect Archie Bradley to add Kemp. Of course, we do not know the details of those discussions, including especially the amount of Kemp’s salary that would have been covered.
Here’s the latest from the National League West:
The Dodgers will be open to moving shortstop Erisbel Arruebarrena after the Jimmy Rollins deal is finalized, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports tweets. The 24-year-old is owed $16MM over the next four years.

now..they rejected our request to upgrade at catcher. take that into consideration. also consider that we're about to add another pitcher anyway.

looks like Arruba might be outta here..won't be any spot for him when Seager comes up. and again, the Dodgers think Seager could be ready by the start of the 2nd half of the season, so Uribe might be gettin some bench time. Rollins' leadoff role and defense is too important to play Seager over him. 3B debut for Seager? maybe. maybe not. maybe he plays a bit of both.

I honestly see this trade like trading Mike Piazza to a slightly smaller extent. Except we didn't get a Gary Sheffield type player back.

I don't mind kemp being traded, it's what we got in return that bugs me. Now, if all these spects are "flipped" like Heaney was then it will be easier to deal with. Considering all that happened last night and what Friedman has said Im sure somethin more is brewing.

Now in terms of kemp, I hate to see him go because I've always liked him but if what's being said about him is true, which I don't know why it wouldn't be at this point, then I can see why he was dealt. At the same time I'm sure a guy like Rollins could come in and instantly be a leader in that clubhouse. Problem is all these players have egos. He started with the whole 4th outfielder thing in ST then when he got moved from CF and started platooning that's where im sure he hit his breaking point. I can't blame him for being upset in some regard but you take your medicine and move on and help the team win like he did from sept on. If he's bashing teammates to their face and disrespecting the manager then you gots to go. I wonder if they're taking calls on puig too? Good luck in whales vagina matty, I'm sure its a better place to be than in Rihanna's vagina.

The prospects we got from Miami and SD are cool cause we don't have to flip em right away for this to be worthwhile. They could help the MLB team in future or, maybe more importantly, now the farm has more that's attractive rather then just the top 3. We were fucked at the trade deadline cause our top 3 weren't worth anyone available but the next tier of guys either were shit or couldn't afford to lose

You get a deeper pool of guys and now it's easier to make a trade in July without needing to give up a shiny prospect

Getting a superstar out of Kemp woulda been great of course but the Dodgers needed quantity elsewhere. We've been fucked over by being top heavy in many aspects and not having flexibility

Grandal is younger then AJ, McCarthy is younger then Haren, Joc is younger then Kemp.

Kendrick and Rollins are older then there counterparts though, but are only signed up for one year, along with Uribe, to give room to younger players if need be

So I would say the Dodgers got younger, and where they got old theyre not really tied down for long

Pretty much the same age we were before yesterday. We were old before, so I don't know why you suddenly noticed this.

I really hope that Nightgale DBacks rumor is wrong and a mix up, if we passed on Bradley that's bullshit...

Has to be. Bradley would be a way better return than Polluck. Doesn't make much sense; especially with Joc/Heisey in CF.

    This.

Got younger in the OF, Kemp to Joc.
Older at 2B, Dee to Kendrick
Younger in the rotation, Haren to McCarthy.
Slightly younger at catcher, Fedex to Grandal.

Something else I just thought about in the long view of these deals, getting Kendrick allows them to have 2 guys who will get qualifying offers next winter and give draft picks (along with Greinke), so if they decide to let Zack walk and pursue Price or Cueto and lose the draft pick, they aren't left without any early picks.
