NEVER said it was but this is an opinion poll and it's my opinion. Who gives a shit, taking this a bit too seriously, this poll doesn't affect what the FO does or will be doing. Would it be better if everyone voted exactly like you and gave the FO all the same grade? I am a supporter of this FO, I like the direction but it's incomplete until it results in YEARS of pipelines and winning consistently. Done with my rant.
I don't mean to specifically call you out, but it's a growing perception among Dodger fans who are failing to understand that it's simply not "World Series or bust". Their expectations are way too high just because we have all this money. Ultimately winning the World Series is the goal, but putting together a team that gets to the playoffs and gives you that chance is all they can control with the way baseball is in October. It's not like the NBA where we can successfully say the Warriors and Cavs are going to be playing in the Finals.
I get it, being a historic franchise that's in a 28 year WS drought sucks, and better is expected; but once people realize that all bets are off in October, you get a better understanding of what these guys are trying to do.
I actually was considering changing my D to a low C, considering the Chapman "signing"... but with all this finook bs now that is it IS/ISN'T a trade...fuck that. In fact, if it was all a pipe dream, then red F, front and center...perhaps worse.
There will be no mind changing. These geeks have managed to outthink themselves. Since day 1 they have been trying way too hard and have managed to fuck up a good thing. I dont go to my dentist and ask him to take a look at my tax situation or call up my attorney and ask him why my back is hurting me. Why on earth would I expect a banker with a computer to know how to run a baseball team. Just seems silly to me. Ill be waiting anxiously for them to prove me wrong just as I waited anxiously for Depo to do it the 1st time around 1 more thing....its easy to look like a rockstar when you have something like 10 #1 picks sitting on your roster. Dont care to take the time to look it up but how did the geek do once they started winning? Seems to me like he left the fridge empty in tampa but ehh what do i know about pitch framing....
finding it really tough to grade them tbh because a lot of what they've been doing could very well be the foundation to a much greater plan at least that's what we've been led to believe so to vote now seems premature but let's start with a C then they lose greinke, move to D find out they passed because of what the d'bags paid, back to C re-signing utley, meh, no change C signing iwakuma, okay up to C+ news of signing chapman, up to B hearing chapman deal not done, back to C
I'd give them a B. I still like all the trades they have made, but they seem to all come with some sort of hitch. Either they have someone leak too much info early or other teams do (not their fault), but when hurdles always seem to come up, then you have to believe it is them. I have knocked them down for a weak deadline and a couple of frustrating things that have come to pass on the international market. Losing Fox at the last minute and Martinez signing for a quarter of what they were originally ready to offer. I like that they really took their time with the managerial search, never seen anything like that, but it made me realize they really want the right man to lead this franchise.
darth, this isn't pointed so much at you, but to every one who has the blinders on and only sees the season at hand. What these geniuses are doing is looking into the future, weighing the consequences of a particular move at this point in time, and it's corresponding effect 2, 3, 4, or 5 years into the future. You think they can't see shit coming? I'm willing to bet they see shit coming AND going. I truly believe the majority of this forum is focused on one season at a time, this one, while the Nerds are focused on the long haul. We saw it happen in Miami and Arizona, and maybe we just witnessed it in KC. I'll throw Texas in the mix as well. All those teams geared up for a big push at the WS and most were succesful, only to have to fall back and retool, rebuild, and firesale. Arizona is trying their damndest to repeat the exact same path that got them their WS. They may eventually get it. But I'll bet dollars to donuts that immediately afterwards they return to sucking eggs. Just an old farts opinion.
Anyone know the life span of a bad GM? I honestly dont have a clue as to what it could be but im willing to bet it isnt 5 years for a team spending as much as this team or giving away in salary for traded players as much as this team. If you honestly believe these ass hats arent playing to win today youve drank way too much of the koolaid. This master plan is gonna last as long as it did with depo......until people see through the smoke and mirrors and keep thier asses at home instead of filling seats. You honestly think for 1 min ownership gives a fuck about no games on TV? They get to double dip. TV money for nothing and a packed house because people have no choice. You can bet your ass that if people dont fill seats these nerds will be sent packing. Ohh i know the way the story goes, hostle calls on talk radio, these idiots too caught up in themselves so they go on to defend THIER master plan, then they will blame THIER MAN Roberts for not being on the same page, that will buy them to a trade deadline or perhaps seasons end then more empty seats. Fool me once shame on you Fool me twice shame on me Like I said above......waiting to see something I havent seen before by an business guy with a comp trying to have an eye for baseball talent
