I think we need to bench the rookies game 5. Have Freese, Martin and Taylor start the game and hope they can do something against Stras. Buehler will come to play but who knows about the cold bats. I'd like to see this lineup. 1. Joc RF 2. Turner 3B 3. Muncy 2B 4. Freese 1B 5. Bellinger CF 6. Taylor LF 7. Seager SS 8. Martin C With this lineup you have Joc at the top who can run into one if Stras makes a mistake. You have your clutchest hitters in the 2,3 and 4 spots. 5-7 could get ugly though but I hope these guys can step it up in game 5. Kike/Beaty/Smith/Lux for pinch hitting and Pollock to pinch run cause I don't see his bkitch ass doing anything else on this team!! They probably end up running the same lineup as game 3 but with Beaty in for Pollock. And Freese in for Lux.
^ like it w Lux at ss why is it that guys go to NY and excel but in LA they fold under the "bright" lights?
In a way, I hope the FO realizes that "value" only goes so far. The Astros paid for Gerrit and Verlander, and now Grienke. The Nats paid for Scherzer and Strasberg. The Yanks paired up Stanton with Judge. The Dodgers front office needs to learn a lesson about striking while the match is still hot. I'm afraid that the closest we will come to a chip was two years ago when we went 7 with the Stros only to have Darvish poop his pants....again. Now I hear from ESPN that Baez is tipping his pitches. Where is Honeycut on this????
I never thought I'd feel this way, but in light of the ongoing rumors that this one and that one is tipping their pitches, it might be a blessing in disguise that Honeycutt is gone next year. The Zimmerman HR however, was hit off a pitch that looked up over the top of the zone. Don't know if that can be applied to pitch tipping. Baez flat out sucked, though, and shit the bed when needed most. Would love to have seen May in in Baez' spot with that crazy lateral movement. And ultimately, what is the difference when the lineup maxes out with one run in a game that could have brought them to the championship series ? Usually, it's the lineup letting down and the pitching good, or vice versa. Last night, we saw both not even show up. Crapping out in this series, after a record setting season, would be a devastating collapse. But here we are, on the brink, with the stage set for exactly that.
It’s really not the front office or coaching in my eyes. Like at all. The best players don’t show up. Every team has a star have a bad series like Freddie Freeman is sucking for ATL right now, but he doesn’t look absolutely hopeless like Seager and Bellinger. It’s a different level with them.
spot on especially with seager freddie is having a bad series seager has swing flaws that for whatever reason he has chosen not to work on same with bellinger, although he seemed to have figured shit out the first few months of the season before regressing back
I expect Washington to adjust to seeing Walker a second time while our hitters swing and miss at the same pitches they did in game 2 vs Strasburg.
This series we've won all the games where we had an off-day the day before. Off-day today, so tomorrow... Easy Win!
The Lux insistance is already old, as the Pollack must play because 0/12 with 10Ks is what we want. Pretty much all teams ( except the Dodgers, of course) who feel they have a better team than the ultimate results reflect, get rid of the manager, not the players who failed. Especially when you have a franchise best ever year. The " it's the players fault, not the manager's "is not reality. Y'know, like the Yankees did with Boone. And the Cubs. and the Mets. And San Diego. And with Hurdle. And...blah, blah. On and on. Let's see where sticking with Roberts gets us.
Yeah the constant has been the players and you can’t, you just can’t, win a series where guys that you’re relying on are essentially useless. And Cody and Corey have now gotten some hits, singles and doubles. But, is it too much to ask for a big hit? It’s all been when no ones on base.
When somebody like Freddie Freeman struggles, it's just a small stretch of bad results. When Cody and Corey struggle, it's about the process more so than the results. They do not put themselves in a position to succeed mechanically or mentally at the plate. That's why there is no hope. It's not possible for them to emerge from their struggles for any length of time.
I think tomorrow id start Freese and Beaty. Freese over Lux looks simple, and in LF choosing between Pollock/Enrique/Taylor/Beaty is a shitty choice. I’d go with Beaty just cause he seems to have the best chance at making contact
also, when they struggle, they offer nothing. When Muncy struggles, his eye is still there and he’s having good at bats and taking walks but not making good contact or missing at good pitches. When Turner struggles, it’s weak contact but still a good approach. Shit, when Joc struggles he’s missing but it’s just missing hittsble pitches. When Cody and Corey struggle, it’s a bad approach with tons of swing and miss and lack of patience.
Soto awaits, says Buehler doesn't have anything for him. Lol Kid is 20 years old, talking shit and backing it up. He hasn't even been otherworldly, but he's seemingly putting a good AB out there every time. Trying to get a feel for what's different about this Nats' team, and he seems to be it. His energy and confidence, feels like it's leading the way. Like a young force multiplier in training
Freese over Lux looked simple last game. But Lux vs Strasburg last time just looked unfair, I'd rather give Freese, Kiké, or Taylor the start over Lux.
i’d really like to be optimistic but i just can’t if we were to win tomorrow we’d probably go back to the ws but i don’t see that happening walker is due for a bad outing and stras will shut us down when zimm hit that hr yesterday it was game, set, match or more aptly game, series, season
kershaw on game 5... “All hands on deck, for sure. I’ll be ready to go.” that should ease everyone’s tension sarcasm
^Exactly. Think Walker actually steps up and keeps it close. Last 2 times we've seen him start in the post..shut down the Red Sox, shut down the Nats. It's that bitch ass Kershaw that's available out of the pen that worries me. Kershaw enters the game in the 7th inning and here we go..off into the wild, blue fuckery
