This guy Brasier is just one of the most trusted, capable guys we have in the BP.
    Pleasure to watch.

Varland's stay in the majors is going to be short if he comes in with big leads and walks the first batter.

The Dodgers signed Ryan Brasier to a minor league deal less than a month after the Red Sox DFA’d him in May. Any team in MLB could’ve picked him up, but only the Dodgers were smart enough to sign him. Brasier has a 1.16 ERA in 23.1 IP with LA.

I get your point, but if you get the next six in a row like he did, you've got a pretty decet shot.
However, I think his biggest detriment is that he looks like Tom Niedenfurer.

I'll hand it to them... taking the first two against MIL with a combined 13-3 score adds legitimacy to all the wins vs chump teams lately.

Today's game against Burnes will be a test, both for the team and Large Lance. Let's see if the magic continues.

He went through the Brewers 1-4 hitters like shit through a goose. Nice recovery from the four pitch walk.

Kershaw looking rusty like he just came off the IL, but still holds the opposition to a solo HR, not without some at 'em luck. Glad he got the W. One shy of Big D.

Miggy hitting bombs and playing his position as well as it can be played.

Our boys have mastered seeing eye ground ball singles of late. Once again, the value of making contact (see Smith, Will).

Official scorer should have been fired on the spot on the Freeman call. Apparently it was properly corrected to an error after the game.

we’ll see if lynn can keep his magic going, but he’s got a tough opponent in burnes tonight
plus the brewers hitters are slashing .295/.353/.500 against him in 78 ab’s, while burnes has held us to .242/.333/.348 in 66 ab’s

Well here's how a smart manager (sure wish we had one) would build today's lineup:

Obviously you start with Mookie and FF. Mookie has a double in three ABs, while Freeman is 3 for 10 against Burnes.
You disregard the lame R-L-R-L thing that Davey loves so much and hit Heyward third. He's seen Burnes the most of any Dodger and has had success - 1.051 OPS over 12 ABs.
JD bats cleanup. He's never faced this pitcher, so who knows? We'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
I really don't like Muncy starting today. O for 6 with 2 K's lifetime... our only hope is he walks. So instead go with Peralta in the 5 spot and Kike, playing 3rd, hitting 6th. Small sample sizes for both, but Peralta has a hit in 3 ABs and Kike a hit in 4 ABs. Serviceable numbers.
Outman hits 7th... having never faced Burnes he may surprise him.
Rojas bats 8th just because Roasario is not a better option at short in this matchup. Rojas is 2 for 9 which is about his average anyhow.
Lastly... Barnes. I HATE benching Smith for Barnes, but it has been 5 days since Austin's last start, and he has more hits against Burnes in 2 ABs then Smith has had in 6.

I'd go with that. Maybe they'll cobble together 2-3 runs plus a couple more once Burnes is out and Lance and the pen deal.

Close, but I knew that sitting Muncy was a stretch for Roberts.

    1 Betts 2B
    2 Freeman
    3 Peralta
    4 Martinez
    5 Muncy
    6 Heyward
    7 Outman
    8 Hernandez SS
    9 Barnes

This particular group is 12 for 40 lifetime against Burnes... .300 batting average, so not horrible.

reporter: “wondering why you chose to start muncy tonight.”
roberts: “well maxsie has good numbers against burnes so we felt it was the right call.”
    reporter: “he’s 0-for-6 with 2 strikeouts.”
roberts: “yeah but we feel he sees the ball real good against this guy, so we decided to start him. sometimes the intangibles dictate the situation and we truly believe we’re making the right decision.”
reporter: “what’s with all the “we” crap? why not just say “i” and be accountable for what “you’re” saying?
roberts: uh, we don’t like your tone.
