    There is a point there.

Giants have been able to contend and win championships despite a couple of the worst contracts handed out in recent years. That takes depth.

Trade talks for Ryan Braun continue
by Matthew Moreno | Dodger Blue — 20 minutes ago

Last season the Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers reportedly discussed a potential trade centered around Ryan Braun, with talks said to have led up to the non-waiver deadline. There were more rumblings of a possible deal last August once Braun cleared waivers.

But the six-time All-Star remained with the Brewers, and although there was a sense Braun would get traded during the offseason, there was little to suggest any traction was gained on that front. There nonetheless remains an expectation the Brewers will look to move one of the franchise’s former cornerstones.

According to Jon Morosi of MLB.com, some level of trade talks for Braun have persisted between the Dodgers and Brewers:

"The Dodgers and Brewers have remained in contact about a possible trade involving Ryan Braun, sources say, and it is not difficult to see why."

In March, it was reported Braun kept the Dodgers on his list of six teams approved for trade. On May 24, the 33-year-old will obtain a full no-trade clause as a player with 10-and-5 rights. The non-waiver trade deadline this season is Monday, July 31.

Entering play on Thursday, Braun is batting .214/.313/.429 with two home runs and four RBI in eight games. He finished last year hitting .305/.365/.538 with 23 doubles, 30 home runs, 90 RBI and a 136 OPS+.

The Dodgers’ reported interest in Braun is connected to their struggles since last season against left-handed pitching. They ranked last in the Majors in 2016 batting average (.213), on-base plus slugging percentage (.622), wOBA (.275) and wRC+ (72).

Braun is owed $72 million through the 2020 season.

It wouldn't be a surprise for them to push for a trade before his no-trade rights begin on May 24.

Always waiting for a saviour...Still counting on the Jewish Jesus.
Manny, Hanley, even Puig...And others, all had their shot at being our new Messiah. Didn't quite happen, though.
Or, maybe the kids in the Hall can help out. Later.
But just once, it would be so cool to start off the year and at least get through a couple of months without having to correct huge problems and/or gaping wounds.
Not in the cards, so far anyway.

Might not matter all that much, you're right. But as of now they have 6 teams they can deal with, but after the rights click in it could be less teams. Of course, if we're the only one of the 6 interested, it's probably moot.

Do it, tired of these shitty performances against LHP and having to platoon every night. Guys can't get in sync and Braun would immediately be the best hitter in the lineup after Seager. Could probably pull it off without giving up Verdugo, Bellinger, Calhoun, Alvarez, Buehler or White. Like to see it done sooner than later.

If they get Braun without losing any of those guys ( likely), maybe they then move to your previous scenario at that point and go semi-all in with a quality/quantity offer for Quintana using some of those pieces. I guess something like Buehler/Verdugo/Calhoun/Barnes for Quintana. Could maybe just go ahead and bring Bobby Wilson up to take over for Barnes as backup for Yasmani I guess. But if Toles and Trayce remain with LAD for RF they could make it tough for Verdugo to take over anyway, and of course Calhoun is probably a safer play/better fit in the AL. Losing Buehler sucks, but even then there's White rising fast. I suppose the difference in not going for Sale, and going for Quintana instead, would be not parting with Bellinger. Although, not sure if CHI was actually asking for Bellinger with Abreu manning 1B, but maybe DH would be a possibility for the latter, or you just get a Bellinger regardless and figure it out later.

Still sort of difficult to see LAD unloading like that, but I guess I could see a scenario where maybe Verdugo/Calhoun are just better off elsewhere. Hate saying that about Verdugo because of course he gets it from an AB standpoint. Maybe LAD would have another option here, though, as they did with Dozier/Forsythe. Instead of Quintana - falling back for Archer..he sliced through the Jays' order the other day and looks to be off to a promising start. Maybe end up going Buehler/Calhoun/Ruiz/Brock for Archer, a lesser package. Anyway, all this in the name of getting a more reliable #2 option for the post..and should they do any of this shit and Kershaw again fails to have the kind of post season run we've been waiting on for years now, that'd be pretty fucked up and very possible. Damn, I wish they had just signed Lester/Ross..they tried, but that was a L for sure. Guess at some point they just felt like Theo had him.

    Puig this year:
    0/15, 3 K's, 2 BB's vs LHP
    9/19, 4 K's, 6 BB's, 2 doubles, 3 HR's, 5 RBI's vs RHP

    You're doing hitting wrong Puig

Looks to me there like Puig's doing hitting like 2016- Justin Turner.
Well, sort of..Turner hit good pitching and was clutch.
