The Nationals just swept a team for the first time since June 2021 by sweeping the Giants.

Reds also swept the Diamondbacks. God bless both of them

Another thing about Mensa Dave...as just witnessed by agreat OF without a clue on a double to LF...does it ever dawn that a different OF each day on a tricky wall is recipe for disaster ?

Barnes GIDP to end the game - of course he did. For a second I was hoping he'd get on base, and then we'd have the potential tying run in the on-deck circle in the form of our hottest bat. But then I laughed at myself for even thinking that - how much confidence can you have in a guy barely hitting .100? It was a sure out, and he took the baserunner with him to put this one on ice which I should've also expected. Wish he'd just struck out.

I did a little stat hunting. You'd have to go all the way back to 2006 to find a lower batting average than Barnes among players with at least 100 ABs. That (.102) was Antonio Perez of the A's (yes, the ex-Dodger), and it would be his last season in the big leagues. Barnes may still bump it up before this season ends, but seriously, why is this guy still on the team? It's an embarrassment to see his name in the lineup every 4th or 5th game.

With guys like Sheehan ( or what he's become) and a full scramble chef that Julio has deteriorated into, it's a wonder we are where we are.
Maybe it was me, but that grand slam, coming when it did so soon, seemed to paralyze the whole offense after. Looked as if we all but gave up, resting on a big first inning, and 27 runs in the first two. But it sure doesn't work that way.
Or maybe Perez is that good, Idk.Sure looked great after the first.

6-3 road trip. 6-0 when Will started at catcher, 0-3 when Barnes started at catcher.

I know some will say that the players are professionals and shouldn't need anyone else to motivate them. I say, it starts with the manager. After the grand slam he was probably giving out ass slaps liberally and digging deep into his library of "...-ey" nicknames and a general letdown ensued.

That speaks volumes. I wonder how it would look over the season-to-date. Does anyone in the front office see this? Give me Feduccia at even half of his OKC production over Barnes at this point.

That's difference between a veteran pitcher and a rook. Veteran recovers and keeps his team in the game, while the rook lets things get out of control after the floodgates open.

Turning point was when Perez got out of the second and third no one out jam. He was close to getting pulled.

A few more Barnsey fun facts...

** Yesterday he accounted for 5 of the team's 27 outs. That's about double the average of the other eight lineup slots.

** Projecting the outcome of the games completed so far over an entire season, Dodgers are an 88-win team when he starts and a 96-win team when he doesn't. That's the difference between making the playoffs and likely not.

** Out of 592 position players this season, he's ranked #592 in WAR, at -1.6.

    ** His strikeouts-to-hits ratio is almost 3-1.

** He's grounded into twice as many double plays (4) than he has extra base hits (2 - both doubles).

** His .309 OPS is the 11th lowest in Dodgers history in any season with at least 100 plate appearances. Here's where this stat gets really fun... the 10 seasons with lower OPS numbers include nine pitchers and a Brooklyn infielder from 1902.

I could honestly go all day with these, but alas work beckons.
