Los Angeles Dodgers: Brian Wilson is scheduled to make his first appearance Wednesday night for Rancho Cucamonga, the Dodgers' Class A affiliate in the California League, and you wonder if he's ready to accept a setup-man role. Kenley Jansen has a death grip on the closer's job, and he won't be stepping aside for Wilson or anyone else. Since mid-June, when he replaced Brandon League, Jansen has a 1.42 ERA with 10 saves (none blown) and 25 consecutive batters retired, 13 by strikeout. If there's any remaining curiosity about the Dodgers' team chemistry, check this comment from Boston Globe writer Dan Shaughnessy: "The Dodgers are white-hot, but there's still plenty of time for Adrian 'The Cooler' Gonzalez to bump them out of the playoffs. In the last three seasons, Gonzo has been part of epic folds in San Diego, Boston and L.A." Gonzalez is no team leader, not even close, but you wonder if anything can stop an L.A. team that won 15 straight games on the road until Tuesday night's loss in St. Louis. The Dodgers are holding their breath just now, hoping to discover that Hanley Ramirez's jammed right shoulder (injured Sunday) will heal sufficiently to prevent an MRI exam. For all the talk about Yasiel Puig, Ramirez's relentless hitting has made him the leading MVP candidate in the National League. http://www.sfchronicle.com/sports/j...ogenesis-ban-4711886.php?t=947a554418d00da74e
That's bullshit. I'm not even going to look up the stats on that, but you can't blame that on one guy.
I will. Career OPS: 1st Half - .855 2nd half - .893 2010 OPS: 1st Half - .930 2nd half - .873 2011 OPS: 1st Half - 1.006 2nd half - .893 2012 OPS: 1st Half - .745 2nd half - .878
Shaughnessy is the worst and ugliest baseball writer working today. The screenshot alone should be considered a WMD.
Hard to tell who they were willing to give up for who, but I bet it was Lee+ for Kendrick and who knows what for Hochevar. Maybe we revisit Kendrick deal in the offseason, given the sad state for 2B
