outside of Kendrick being a hell of a right handed bat in the middle of an order ( right handed bats being highly coveted)..yea, you want Kendrick in his free agent year..a good chance that he plays well. i mean there's no " headcase " with Kendrick..he's not Hanley in that aspect, so he's not gonna be swinging for the fences like 95% of the time. he'll be signable after the season. Kendrick's a career.292 hitter and still hitting at that level/playing above average defense. Heaney is about the going rate for an exceptional middle of the order righty. Angels are happy to have Heaney for the next 6yrs..good for them. looks like we're about to get a Cole Hamels that's under team control for the next 4yrs in the Rollins deal. better for us.
Supply and demand. Urias is better than Heaney and we're set in the rotation for awhile if we can resign Greinke or buy one of the aces next year.
the question is was trading Heaney for potentially 1 year of Kendrick the most value we could have gotten out of him?
^ Yeah. I liked Kendrick as our 2B, but only 1 yr and I thought maybe we'd swing Heaney in a different deal. Oh well.
This is probably reactionary bias but if both the Marlins and Dodgers were cool with moving on from Heaney for that, maybe hes not as highly rated as we think Ya know?
So what is exactly the plan for Alex Guerrero? I've always been a fan of HK47. Nice to have him aboard.
It seems like Guerrero could give us versatile depth. If we trade Ethier, he would be valuable as OF depth.
that's a question for the nerds. email them. until then..we just added a middle of the order/righty bat that hits for average and drives in runs..if his name were " Hanley " instead of Howie, you'd call him great.
and it's that same logic with Kemp..we got the return that we got for Kemp because nobody else wanted him all that much. everybody other than the Pads were cool with moving on without him..just like the Dodgers.
if the Dodgers make a run at Hamels..i could see Guerrero going to Philly. he's like 28yrs old..he's gotta play and see what he's got. not gonna play much with us with Kendrick around..unless something else happens with the outfield because like BM said Guerrero got time in LF last year. i don't think people get how good Howie Kendrick is and it's a full on love affair that our front office has with him..from Ned and Kasten when they didn't get the trigger pulled on that Lee/Kendrick deal to even our new guys. we'll re-sign him..as a reliable righty/middle of the order run producer, have to. he plays north of 140 just about every year and with Joc and Seager coming up..2 more lefty bats..Kendrick's not going anywhere.
Guerrero is destined for another year in Oklahoma City but at least he moved up one spot in the depth chart with the departure of Rojas Seriously though I'm sure he'd love to be a major leaguer but Guerrero is getting PAID!!!
Kendrick and Rollins up the middle should be fun to watch. Both are good defensively and offensively. Well-rounded.
Guerrero can't be sent down anymore. it's in his contract. he could only be sent down in his 1st year..he's a bigger leaguer now.
