It's not gonna make sense until the money saved has been reallocated, and that could be weeks.

As if we can't afford to keep Kemp and still sign/take on salary for another pitcher? We got a garbage deal. None of the players we got will facilitate a Hamels trade so it was just a salary dump. Didn't realize there was a salary cap or that we are now the Rays

I've seen this show before and know how it ends. Wasn't happy with the 1st showing. The bankers are starting to make their presence known. Can't wait till parking is $100 and fries are $12. Don't be surprised to see an announcement of PSLs in the next few years. So much for deep pockets

I'm not sure if Heaney actually belongs on that list, but you get the idea.

Heaney doesn't really count as a subtraction.

I'm not really surprised by the Kemp move. A lot of what happened yesterday and today fits the mold of what Freidman does. While the value is up, he's going to trade those assets and get lower priced prospects in return. Even the Rollins trade was a 1 year stop gap until Seager is ready to go. Moving Kemp leaves Joc to be able to play CF and move Puig to RF. Grandal has to be a step up from Fedex and saves money off of Kemp's deal.

The key is not this year. I hate to say it, but this is an evaluation year. If none of the prospects pan out, then I think Freidman will have the go-ahead from management to take on salary and spot pick FA to add pop where we need it.

I don't think Friedman was hired to change the entire way he's put teams together just because he is now with the Dodgers and potentially has a bankroll. Heck, look at the last 2 times we have a budget minded GM suddenly get his mind blown by the money he supposedly had to spend. The results, needless to say, didn't exactly lead to World Series appearances.
