Yea that's why I led with the Kemp plan. Although it's probably no more likely. I'd just rather keep Kemp and move Ethier.
Not trying to be a wiseguy here or anything, but if you are not taking this (Price money) out of your petty cash or breaking the family piggy bank open, why does it matter what they spend? If we need him, want him, covet him or whatever be, who cares how much Kasten /Guggenheim/Magic or whomever spends? let them break the bank and spend more than ever in BB history...as long as we are the best. Like is the attendence a problem ? They'd put 3+ mil asses in the seats if they get him or not. What does it matter? I say "what's the price on Price"? If it's money anyway...players/prospects are a little different, however.
Just to echo what's already been said. Love to get Price in blue. No way I'd give them Pederson or Seager for him. I believe our immediate need is the bullpen.
In the playoffs, it's going to be a 3-man rotation with a 4th spot satrt here and there... I feel that our rotation is set and we should not give away out top prospects for any of those pitchers...
agreed but you have to admit, a 3-man rotation of kersh/zack/price is far >>>>>>>>>> than kersh/zack/ryu and josh coming out of the pen could be a huge addition idk, just throwing it out there and, like bz alluded... if it's money, do it. (top) prospects, not so much...
I'd take any of the 3 on the following conditions in this order. Price: A deal centered around Joc and Anderson as headliners. That's 2 of our top 4 and then choose 2 of our top 5+ after that. No to Urias or Seager in ANY deal. Price instantly makes us the most dangerous team in the league this year and next, no matter what lineup we're throwing out there. Hamels: A deal centered around Joc, Anderson, but 2-3 secondary prospects start in the 9+ range. Lester: If he refuses to sign an extension, deal centered around Ethier, Anderson, some lower end prospects and $30 million. Lester: If he agrees to sign extension, deal centered around Joc, 6-10 prospect and a lower tier player or two Lester & Lackey: If Lester agrees to extension, deal centered around Joc and Anderson, Reed/Lee/Windle and a 10-20 prospect. After each of these deals, the team needs to pursue Rusney who has opened plenty of eyes as our OF depth takes a bit of a hit.
Going off the question, if the price is equal, any answer other than Hamels is wrong. Hamels is signed long term, Lester would be for .5 a season, Price for 1.5. We'd have Hamels for years.
Hamels is two years older than Price while Price has thrived in a much tougher division and seems to want to potentially play in LA. Honestly though, I'd be very happy with both if neither costs us Seager or Urias.
You'd think Hamels would be the cheapest with that long term contract. Maybe this will be the season Amaro stops being an idiot and finally caves.
dodgers have money to go after FA why not just save our farm and use our money to rent stars use farm for future when money starts becoming scarce thats why im farming they should just platoon Ethier with that other overpriced LF and then call up Joc down the stretch to try and wrestle the job away from them if he can out produce.
But he's actually worth the contract he has. He's good, consistent, he's only under contract until age 34-35... if anything his contract is probably slightly below what he could get as a free agent in the current market.
