So the Padre manager is pleading for pitchers to 'stop going up and in' to Tatis.

Another reason baseball is dying. Tatis - while talented- is a cocky, spoiled, preening asshole who struts when he homers and sulks when he fails. He's a typical punk and his father clearly spoiled him.

Tatis' head would have long been busted open by any one of 50 pitchers from the 1930s-1990s.

What a shame how this modern game has degenerated to.

Who's the most negative poster here? It could be me. I don't like it, don't want to be, wasn't always like this, but it's just where I am as a fan based on the last ten or so years. I've turned into this one guy on the old ESPN board that I used to get into with. Hated that guy and his negativity, and now here I am. It's not healthy. Also, where did Quiller go? I hope my Roberts rants didn't chase him off. So I'm trying an experiment... goal is to go one month (retroactive to May 2) without any negative Dodger related posts, and that includes Roberts and Taylor*. I may fail miserably in this endeavor, we'll see. This may mean at times I'll have nothing to say, other times my posts will be pretty boring. If I do make it, I may explode on June 2 with a rant-filled tirade. Or I may give up on it before. Time will tell.

    * Angel Hernandez, Machado, SF Gnats, and anything not directly related to LAD is still fair game.

eh, i'd say we're all pretty negative especially when it comes to davey so i doubt you personally drove anyone off
there have been a lot of posters come and go here for various reasons and maybe its our overall demeanor but what to do? pretend?
for instance i kinda like Paxton even though he walks the tightrope and opposing batters
seems to be a competitor and yet a lot of folks here dread his day to pitch
that's their opinion and rather than engage i just shrug my shoulders and watch him win again
not like we can have a staff full of Glasnows
besides where can you go and say literally anything you want and the only rule is don't be a douche?

tatis leans out over the plate, so of course pitchers are going to knock him back off it
if they don’t they’re essentially defenseless
why not just ask for pitchers to lob 80 mph bp fastballs?
what an idiot… no wonder the cardinals fired his dumb ass

I’m happy for Treinen. But at this point I think most would rather have a healthy Evan.

Well, Treinen is still throwing that wiffleball shit that no one seems to handle.
    I'll take it.
    Just unreal movement.

The guy is in over his head. Fired by the Cardinals, destined to suffer the same fate in San Diego. I guess it’s easier to make a pathetic disingenuous plea for all pitchers to change a part of the game that’s always been there, than it is to teach your own player to quit crying and learn how to hit pitches on the outer edge.

And that douchebag Ozuna. If this were the 1960’s or 70’s, the problem would have already been resolved. A Don Drysdale or Bob Gibson would have made sure of that. Speaking of which, imagine what those two would have done if Tatis had tried to take any part of their strike zone away from them.

Never mind. It’s a different game now and, despite its flaws, I still love it. I know there’s no sense whining about how it used to be. It just irks me how some of these entitled prima donnas act, and I felt compelled to vent.

Hall of Famer Frank Robinson stuck his elbow out very close to the inside corner of the plate. Drysdale knocked him on his ass multiple times. Frank didn't whine. He stepped right back into the box the same way. Neither Big D or Frank gave an inch.

    Old time baseball.

    • During their last six games, the Dodgers have outscored their opponents 42-11. That’s an unsustainably large run differential for a full season, but it speaks to the Dodgers’ dominance on both sides of the ball. Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani are 1-2 in MLB in Wins Above Replacement. Tyler Glasnow leads MLB in innings, wins, and strikeouts, forming a potent 1-2 with Yoshinobu Yamamoto atop the rotation. Evan Phillips was looking like a capital-C closer before suffering a mild hamstring strain. After some early hiccups, the Dodgers have shifted around their personnel in the field to create one of the game’s best defenses.

Can only take so much losing in the playoffs. It’s left a lot of us jaded.

You almost expect these kind of lopsided numbers against the lowly Marlins. But outscoring the Braves 20-6 is quite a feat.

Excerpt from a story in today's LAT.....later in the article Muncy credited Miggy and Ebel helping him turn things around with the glove.

Muncy had a rough defensive start to the season, just like he did in 2023, committing one fielding error and misplaying two catchable grounders that were ruled hits in the season-opening series against the San Diego Padres in South Korea and making another fielding error in an April 6 game against the Cubs in Chicago.

But Muncy has found his bearings in the field over the last month, stringing together 23 straight errorless games and entering a weekend series at San Diego with three defensive runs saved, according to Fangraphs, which ranks third in the game among 18 qualified third basemen.

Pittsburgh’s Ke’Bryan Hayes, the 2023 National League Gold Glove Award winner, and Washington’s Trey Lipscomb top the group of third basemen with four defensive runs saved.

Behind Muncy on that list are four-time Gold Glove and two-time Platinum Glove winner Matt Chapman (two) and 10-time Gold Glove winner and six-time Platinum Glove winner Nolan Arenado (minus-two).
