I imagine Braun reached a plea deal with them and that is why he is the only one suspended. I imagine that MLB still moves forward with Biogenesis as scheduled.
not really. Does anyone hate Bartolo Colon? or Marlon Byrd? or Andy Pettite? I mean, some might, but not really. jose Dominguez? Obviously, Dominguez/Byrd are a bit lower in profile due to stats/careers but still.
The players think they can continually cheat and pull a fast one. And a lot of them succeed. Again, if the players association is gratified, there are no appeals, etc....then MLB got under the shade of the players and did a good job. Length of suspensions...yeah...that's odd. I agree. BUT, let's see how it plays out. Might've been a settlement. We'll probably see a better penalty system implemented after this scandal. People are harping on baseball for creating a bad precedent. Well guess what? Sometimes bad things have to happen before you can create a precedent. BASEBALL is the one that's REACTIONARY. The players are the ones creating this. It's MLB who's always on the defensive. Get off MLB's back imo. They're trying to react not instigate. This is all on the players.
I think those are more domestic disputes. MLB is not really responsible for domestic shit, im, and can't police that. They aren't making bad guys out of anyone. They're just suspending guys for cheating. That's all. They're portrayed as bad guys by fans and media. MLB is just suspended cheaters. They have no prooaganda.
For one, I'm glad he was suspended. He got off on a technicality and got lucky. But, suspending guys for being on a list? IDK. Sounds shady. If someone goes down, bring them down for failing a test. Begin more rigorous tests. Every month on everyone in the clubhouse. The MLBPA would never go for it, but I don't think suspending guys for being on a list is a good idea.
and by the way, lets say Braun really did do a super big no no and took superman blood or wtv. He doesn't really lose much in the huge scheme of things by taking this random 65 game suspension. MLB gains more than Braun loses.
If you cheat, don't get caught for 2-3 years, you get a fat contract and your family is set for life. So you get suspended, big deal... You come back and hit .260 for a few years, then your gone.
The priority is to create a fair and transparent game, not to serve as morality police. DUI's, wife beating, etc.. don't help you hit a fastball.
This was exactly a plea deal, which by the way doesnt necessarily mean hes was guilty it just means hes plead "no contest".anyway, about a week or 2 ago the mlbpa said they would encourage players with incriminating to come to an agreement within the league on reduced suspensions.anybody think arod takes a deal? How bout a guy that'll be a FA like nelson cruz? When did colon make these purchases was it before or after his suspension? Would hes then be subject to another suspension if they were purchased before his hot test? Too many questions....
LASIK eye surgery, PRPs, adderall, and other "allowed" stuff helps you hit a fastball as much if not more than some of the stuff on the banned list that is legal with a doctor prescription. And to be clear, I'm not saying "FUCK IT" and allow everything that is deemed banned. nothing wrong with banning shit that is going to kill you in one dose, but I just think the double standards and ridiculousness of what MLB can do to these guys and the process of it all is lame
And hopefully.. HOPEFULLY, this is the last time something huge like this is big news in the MLB. Just hope it stops and that 2013 is remember as the year the Dodgers won the world series and not about some Miami dude named Bosch and some funny word Biogenesis.
I know, and I'm not saying Braun shouldn't be suspended for testing positive for something that is banned, I'm saying the line between "PED" and non PED is a weird/dumb one that needs to be changed to stop from players being labeled as steroid users for using something that doesn't even help more then legal stuff, so that all this "steroid" bullshit can be behind us.
It's allowed if you get doctors clearance through ADD or ADHD (and it's pretty easy to be labeled as either)
well I said in the beginning that not many minds would change on this but I still posted a lot lol but yeah, oh well, whats done is done and the Dodgers still play and they don't have anyone on the list hopefully. But my thoughts are there. *awaits Fordie to yell at me*
