Dodgers May Lose Ryu, Mattingly Says Injuries “Getting Ridiculous” June 1, 2013 6:55 PM Share on email 4 View Comments Hyun-Jin Ryu #99 of the Los Angeles Dodgers makes a throw to first after fielding a groundball against the Los Angeles Angels at Dodger Stadium on May 28, 2013 in Los Angeles, California. (credit: Harry How/Getty Images) Filed under DENVER (CBSLA.com/AP) — The Los Angeles Dodgers lost their manager, another outfielder and ultimately the game. Now they could be without one of their best pitchers for the series finale. Outfielder Carl Crawford injured his left hamstring on a double in the third inning, adding to the pain of a 7-6 loss in 10 innings to the Colorado Rockies on Saturday. With catcher A.J. Ellis dealing with an oblique injury and outfielder Matt Kemp landing on the 15-day disabled list Thursday with a right hamstring strain, the struggling Dodgers are running out of healthy players. “It’s kind of getting ridiculous,” said manager Don Mattingly, who was ejected in the sixth inning. “The last couple of days, two outfielders, kind of our main guys. We’re going to have to get some bodies here. We were thin outfield-wise already, so we’re going to have to do something.” Now Mattingly may also need to bring up a pitcher to start Sunday’s game at Coors Field. Scheduled starter Hyun-Jin Ryu is dealing with a sore foot and he isn’t sure he will be able to take the mound. He said he will leave the decision up to Mattingly and GM Ned Colletti. “I think Donnie and Ned are going to make the decision,” Ryu said through a translator. “I never want to take the mound putting my team in jeopardy, so if I’m not fully confident I can be the pitcher I am I wouldn’t want to step out there unless I’m 100 percent.” The Rockies, meanwhile, got their fourth win this season in their last at-bat, one night after losing to the Dodgers in extra innings. Yorvit Torrealba’s two-out single off Matt Guerrier (1-2) started the rally. Pinch-hitter Wilin Rosario followed with an infield single, narrowly beating the throw to first. Dexter Fowler then lined a hard grounder that shot past first base into right field, driving in Torrealba with the winning run and snapping the Rockies’ three-game losing streak. Matt Belisle (3-2) pitched a scoreless inning for the victory. The loss was compounded for the Dodgers because of Crawford’s injury. He left in the third inning after suffering a left hamstring cramp while rounding first base on his second double in two at-bats. “We’re all trying to figure it out because this is my left hamstring and it kind of came out of nowhere,” Crawford said. “My situation, can’t really put a finger on why that happened. Just one of those things.” Crawford’s absence for any extended period of time would tough for the Dodgers, whose disabled list already is swelled with some of the team’s best players, from Kemp and Hanley Ramirez to Josh Beckett and Chad Billingsley, among others. “We’re getting pretty thin as far as outfield so we’re going to have to make some moves to get guys here,” Mattingly said. There has not been word on who the club might bring up, but there is a strong possibility that Tony Gwynn Jr. will get the call.
We are cursed, that is the only thing that makes sense at this point. I don't understand all these injuries, it has to be more than a coincidence.
These injuries are killing us plain and simple...even ones from last year(Kemp & Billingsly). We still have 2/3 of the season to get to the top, our luck has to turn around.

Seriously? I get it. He is a "true centerfielder". That being said, maybe it is a time to let Puig do his thing. Maybe the baseball Gods have spoken. Maybe this is their way of motivating Ethier to become more productive. At some point, we have to look at our medical staff. Since Conte and company have come on board (and yes, Sue Falsone)--the injuries have gotten crazy. Below is a pretty good website for keeping up with injuries of all teams. We and the Blue Jays both each have 12. The Marlins are the closest runner up with 10. It goes down from there. CO only has 2. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/injuriesHere is a fangraph breakdown of 2012:We are near the top, again. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/2012-disabled-list-summary/Shit, maybe we are cursed.all the nightmares came today. and it looks as though they're here to stay.

Dodger ownership could be having some serious ownership squeeze issues happening. The media deal with TW isn't going to go the way they want according to reports and it will cost them about $1 billion over the next 25 years in revenue. As the they will now have to give a boat load more up for revenue sharing. In addition the NY State Insurance Commissioner is investigating their use of invested money to fund the purchase of the team and payroll etc etc. That could be a two headed whammy and oh well time will tell.
It is what it is. Selig will get his share and more when there is money on the table. Of course, teams like the Marlins and the like will continue to pocket the money and pretend to have a team.
My buddy at work said that there are rumors floating of Trout to Dodgers?!?! Can anyone find anything?
Only way that will ever happen is if he decides to take it all the way to free agency after 4 1/2 more years, at which point he will probably become the first guy to get a $300M deal.
The Dodgers have acquired outfielder Mike Trout from the Angels for utility-infielder Justin Sellers and relief pitcher Matt Guerrier according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (on Twitter). __
If you're gullible enough to believe that there are rumors of Angels trading Trout then you are gullible enough to believe that. lol
