Randle looked uncomfortable. It'll just take time for him and everyone really. Liked upshaws grit, pushing around and swatting towns. Couple nice passes from Russell and Clarkson was unconscious, looked great

At this stage with the Lakers not having the talent to be a tax team, they need that $$ to accumulate the best roster possible, meaning Kobe needs to take a cut. Lakers have paid him 50 mil + the last two seasons to do basically nothing. It's time he gives back.

The loss is irrelevant. The young guys all looked real good.

Randle just has to finish at the rim more, but that will come with more game action.

This team is way better than last year's team.

Clarkson stole the show. Hell of an athlete.

Randle looked strong. Guys bouncing off him on his drives.

    Some good finds by Russell.

Black still progressing and some good stuff from Upshaw as well.

    LaVine is really coming along.

Man, Towns is the real deal. He's gonna be good.

Clarkson looked good. Don't think the end of last year was a fluke. He can play.
Was impressed with Russel too. Although he didn't shoot the ball well and had some sloppy turnovers, I liked his poise, liked the way he saw the floor and got others involved. It's gonna be fun watching his sweet no-look passes for a very long time as a Laker fan.
Liked Nance's hustle, but damn his shot is ugly.
Randle looked physically imposing, but couldn't finish, and he looked gassed out there. Hopefully the finishing will come as he gets into game shape.
Upshaw looks slow and out of shape, and maybe a bit of a knucklehead, but I like the chip on his shoulder...and you can't teach size like that.

“This kid is super strong,” Lakers coach Byron Scott recalled World Peace observing to others around him.”If Metta says that, he's pretty strong. Metta is pretty strong.”

“They were bumping and grinding,” Scott said, smiling. “It was kind of fun to watch. Metta is the old wily vet and you have this young bull. Every now and then, Metta got the best of him. But when he hit Metta, Metta bounced off of him.”

That caused Scott to say, “Woah,” in amazement. The episode represented a string of developments that left the Lakers encouraged about Randle.

Randle's 1st step and strength look off the charts. Gonna have to finish over NBA length or draw fouls...neither should be all that hard for him once he gets his legs underneath him and regains his timing and what not. Won't be playing today, though. Next game for him is Monday.

    Hibbert/Black/Upshaw/Sacre
    Bass/Randle/Nance/Kelly
    Kobe/Swag/A.Brown
    Clarkson/Lou/J.Brown
    Russell

2.8M exception still available, but that's already 15 under contract.

All-Star Gordon dislocates thumb on slide
    by Joe Frisaro | MLB.com — 14 minutes ago
    [IMG]
MIAMI -- Marlins second baseman Dee Gordon, voted in by the fans as a National League All-Star starter, dislocated his left thumb sliding head-first into first base in the seventh inning on Saturday at Marlins Park, the team said.

Gordon jammed his thumb on the base while beating out an infield single against the Reds. Immediately the 27-year-old started walking toward the dugout, where he threw his helmet in disgust.

The hit was Gordon's third hit on the day, raising his batting average to .338.

Miami has had an injury-plagued first half. Now the club faces the likelihood of being without its All-Star second baseman and leadoff hitter.

The Marlins are already without right fielder Giancarlo Stanton, who is on the disabled list with a broken hamate bone in his left hand. Like Gordon, Stanton was voted in as a starter for the All-Star Game. Miami has never had two players voted in as starters in the same season. Now it's unlikely either will be able to participate.

Gordon leads the Majors with 122 hits, the most ever by a Marlin before the All-Star break. Gordon also has 33 stolen bases.

Leading off the seventh inning against reliever Manny Parra, Gordon bounced to first, where the ball was handled by Joey Votto. Gordon outraced Parra to first, and he was safe on his head-first slide. Miguel Rojas pinch-ran for Gordon.

Source: No ligament damage for Dee Gordon, no break. The hope is that his dislocated left thumb will sideline him for only about two weeks.
