home/road splits, inconsistency, history... he looks like a #2 who has been really lucky...

not a great WHIP, not a great BABIP...

I'd be cool with any of those three. I'd prefer Greinke or Lee, but Lester would be dirty too.

I don't think you understand BABIP. Also Miller Park was the 7th biggest hitter park in 2012 and 10th in 2011, so that makes no sense either.

The people who don't want Greinke are basing it off of little to know information we have about his mental makeup, which is ridiculous.

either sign Grienke which would be crazy or trade some B- prospect for Cliff Lee. both have their pro/cons but i honestly have no clue what this ownership can/will do. I expect crazyness

I'd either sign Greinke or sign a mid rotation guy like Kuroda, Edwin Jackson or Dempster. Those mid level guys like Peavy are too expensive for something we don't need all that badly. Kershaw-Bills-EJax-Lilly-Cap is more than fine, that's an elite rotation.

I honestly think we need to sign one pitcher and I'd be great with HiKu.

Greinke is by far the best pitcher we could get and it's not close. Sure it would be be expensive but we'd have a 1 best case and a 1/2 worst case in Greinke. I don't understand all the hate on him.

plus we don't know if/when chad will be available
the way we took on salary at the deadline
wouldn't surprise me if we signed greinke and traded for lee
    walter clearly wants to win

Not hate. Well, 4ev hates him, but the rest of us would like him on the team, but wouldn't be mad if we didn't get him if we get a good pitcher. Peavy is said to want to stay in Chicago, but if we outbid them, he can be had. The biggest issue with Grienke will be his anxiety, and how that will effect him playing in Los Angeles. The real Los Angeles, by the way. Not Disneyland.

I'm sure Greinke will shit his pants in front of all those empty seats and crowds that cheer every 10 foot popfly.

I know it sounds kinda lame to say, but I'm not really worried about the pitching. Maybe I should be, but it seems like every year I get worried and then we have a top ERA of the league.. But with the offense pretty much set (just need a right handed bench bat which shouldn't be expensive) and a bullpen that just needs League + maybe a Wright type of guy, dishing out for a starter is cool.

I'm there with you. I think a guy like HiKu is a good fit and don't think we should sign a high price FA pitcher unless they are absolutely the best and to me Greinke is just not there.

Yes, HiKu will be expensive, but also gives us flexibility by probably only signing on for one-year. That gives us a HUGE boost for the 2014 FA class as Bills, Cap, Harang, Lilly and HiKu would all be FAs after 2013.

I think we keep forgetting Lee doesn't want to pitch for the Dodgers. He hates us so we hate him.

I dont hate him, I just dont think he's worth a 5/100 contract, and that's IF his asking price... if he ends up signing with us I will sure be happy and cheer for him, but I would rather have a guy like HiKu (whos numbers were pretty similar to Greinke, even better in several areas), who will request a 1 year/12M contract and keep the rotation spot warm for Lee or another prospect. Please dont forget that CK will command BIG TIME MONEY after 2014, and that flexibility will be critical...

Once a Philly always Philly? I know I still dont like Victorino...

Yeah, that's what you thought, Irish? never crossed my mind...I guess it could very well be so.
But like there's no Mexicans or Latinos in San Diego, though ? I mean the Hispanic population in't going away any time soon, so how does that particlar problem bode for next season, I wonder? He needs to habla con Fernando....
It's not like the Iragi soccer team, when Ousay and Ouday would torture them if they fucked up in the WC tournament.
I wonder if Irish guys feel the same playing for the Red Sox?

Not sure I understand that response. Do you want Hamilton or Greinke, and why?

    no on hamilton
imo he's juicing and will be an albatross around the neck of whatever team signs him -- for years to come
his substance abuse problems show a history weakness
    yes on greinke
some people around here question his psyche and his ability to pitch in big games for a big market team
didn't seem to affect him in analheim
and as BDK said, more fans for their games than ours...
