It's a damn shame with the new rule chamges coming up, some needed a bit, some fucking useless, that the best thing that could happen to baseball, the ABS, is still on the back burner. That was simply an atrocious game by Wolf. Shameful. He wasn't allowed to be behind the plate when his brother pitched...he shouldn't be allowed when anybody pitches. End of story.
He's got to be better. He was good vs. a shit Marlins lineup. Not so good vs a playoff caliber Padre lineup. It's pathetic watching him trying to field his position.
I didn't see it, but listening to the radio feed in my car, the Padre announcers were commenting on how bad it was. They said that was a ball all night and suddenly gets called a strike - great timing. I get that umps often have their own zones, but if they can't at least be consistent, they're in the wrong profession.
Yes, it certainly is. Just because you have spectacular movement on the ball ( of which he has little control), doesn't mean you're an all- around athlete. And he, most definitely, is not. Really bad awareness of where the ball actually is.
twice in two games he’s tried to short-hop comebackers unnecessarily also not a fan of his histrionics when he doesn’t get a call or gives up a bomb he needs to calm the fuck down out there
Maybe we still don't score but 1st and 2nd 0 outs compared to a runner on 2nd with 1 out changes the entire mindset for the pitcher. Seemed like the guy relaxed because he knew he got let off the hook All these rule changes and baseball still won't address the biggest issue in the sport.
can see it now... roberts: "joey has good numbers against snell, but ct has the experience so he gets the nod."
i know i'm repeating myself but right before the 3 run hr w a runner on first going the batter took strike 3 down the middle, not even touching the strike zone border and Smith threw out the runner end of inning that ump fucked up the entire game
