I've always liked that only HOFers get their numbers retired. Makes it very exclusive. Lakers do it that way, too. Had Gilliam not died during the World Series #19 would still be worn.
Would be nice to clinch at home next week. Would probably be at the end of the week but man it would be cool Would take a solid winning streak from us though
Maybe "deranged" deserves a closer look...to what degree and exactly what is full-blown "deranged". With players in football committing and conspiring to murder, KO punches to gf on elevators, gun law violations up the ying yang, and basketball players with a whole host of deaths, drugs and gangsta life, one after another...I kinda think bb players take a distant third. Like Fredo amongst the murderers. Maybe obscure to most except to me, is what sumo wrestlers do to their bodies basically forever to compete. Imo, you need to be deeply fucked up ( deranged, if you will) to commit to maintaining that body for a life time. I mean there are people walking around like that, one beat us last night in fact, but sumo wrestlers do that on purpose. Deranged.
Sumos are part of the religion in Japan. They are essentially like demigods. They get to eat anything they want and sleep with models and jpop singers and actresses.
Show me a photo then of one in bed with a model. Because unless you do, I'm not believing one word of that. And if you can, also an affadavit that it is not photoshopped. Although I certainly believe the "eat anything they want" part.
Well not the average Sumo, you need to be a yokozuna to get that kind of treatment. The rank and file wrestlers have to live a very regimented life. Sorta like a monk who gets to eat a lot, sleep a lot, and drink a lot of sake. They werent always fat. Thats sort of a modern thing. Probably a ww2 era thing.
have no clue i had read something in the past that the champs were lavished by the japanese culture and that famous women were attracted to the fame of the yokozunas but that may have been just the sumos who were famous due to the celebrity of moving into things like pro wrestling or the media.
I know most of you don't wanna hear this, but with the STL loss, magic number for a playoff berth is 13.
Funny coincidence with SF playing STL the next 4 days, the Dodgers get something out of it either way.
Was there that day working in the press box. Same game where Mike Marshall picked off Herb Washington.
i was there too also in the 3rd/press level but i was 14, with my dad when marshall picked off washington the noise was deafening remember it like it was yesterday
