Hopefully the bats come alive again and we can get CK out of there early and bring in Nolasco. Assuming we make the NLCS, he has to pitch at some point, possibly game 4, and he'll be going after a long layoff.
Risky but if we lose tonight Kershaw would've thrown game 5 anyway and we lose him until game 3-4 of the NLCS. Gotta win now.
I like the move to be honest. Remember that Nolasco has been BAD in his past starts, and this offense is great but can be shut down by anyone. You want to leave the smallest chance possible for a Game 5, because a 1 game winner takes all can be horrible and anything can happen. Clayton on 3 days rest + Greinke on 4 days rest > Nolasco on wtv day rest and Clayton on 4 days rest. I woulda been fine either way but I'm with this. And we'll still be fine for a possible NLCS cause we can get Greinke in Game 1 and Kershaw in Game 2. The one thing that scares me is that next time Nolasco pitches he might be extremely shaky given that he wouldn't have pitched in forever but hopefully he throws a sim game soon to get some repetition back Excited for tonight. Lets kill em
Both sides to the argument make sense to me. Now that we've made the decision, let's fucking go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
pretty much how I feel, whats done is done and either way I woulda been happy but you gotta feel great about our chances
Should be interesting tonight. Everyone is talking about how well Garcia has done since returning to the SP spot, but ignore that it was against the Nats, Marlins and Brewers. He has given up plenty of flyballs in those games and could be a huge advantage for this team with the way we have been hitting. Hope Kershaw comes in shuts these guys down 1-2-3 and the offense jumps all over Garcia. Get through the 6th with a nice lead so we can go Withrow/Howell, Wilson, Jansen to close this thing out!
pointed out the nagatives but if all goes well and we win tonight... ck, zack, everyone gets 4 days rest so...ray::fingerscrossed:
Thinking more of this move the more I like it. Not purely as a baseball move but a fucking balls move. This is what aces do! Koufax did it, Kershaw can do it too. You need one guy to close out a series and your ace says he can go you run him out there. Aces pitch to close out series, they pitch on 3 days rest and they're the biggest fucking gamer you have. I have no doubt this was partly Kershaws idea and I think its awesome that he can stand up there look in on 3 days rest and tell the entire city of Atlanta to fuck off.
just hope this doesn't affect Kershaw later. but i guess getting to the later is a good problem to have. Hopefully somewhere along the way Kershaw gets good extra rest
na, that's b.s. you never wanna pass the chance to close out a series at home when the opposing team has the next/deciding game on their home field. you never know what could happen if they went back to ATL...the umps could let the atmosphere influence them and fuck us out there...anything. fuck that. i love the decision to throw Kershaw tonight. Greinke pitched well enough in ATL to get us that win. we just didn't score any damn runs for him. he can get it done there if they lose tonight...which they shouldn't
Greinke gave you 6 innings of 2-run ball in ATL and we lost. Kersh can give us 6 or 7 innings of 1 run ball and that's more than likely a win. we gotta score some runs tonight
I would've went with Nolasco. I don't hate the move and I don't wish death or AIDs on anyone over it....but it's not my move.
Well because we only scored 1 for him. With Garcia pitching, you're hoping the offense can put up a good performance.
