Dodger clutch burned out again. Many chances to win this one after Miller shit himself.

JD whiffs with two on in the first and hits one out with no one on next time up. Freddie takes a 3-2 called third. Your 2023 postseason Dodgers in a nutshell.

Understated play was Marte's diving stop of Kike's ground ball single. Would have been a one run game. Of course that's assuming the Dodgers could score another run.

Great, great effort by the bullpen wasted. Fucking shame.

    a big reason we fail…

Roberts has talked a lot about the track records being a big thing for him…

    what roberts sees:
… Lynn certainly has it. The 12-year veteran has seen it all in the MLB, including winning the World Series in 2011 as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals. Lynn has appeared in 13 postseason series in his career, the most recent one coming in the 2021 ALDS with the Chicago White Sox…

    what roberts refuses to see:
… but Lynn has struggled overall in October, sporting a 5-5 record with a 5.28 ERA in 27 appearances (eight starts).

    another problem…
    • In 16 regular season starts against the Dodgers since 2019 Merrill Kelly had an 0-11 record with a 5.49 ERA going into Saturday night. 5 players in Saturday night’s starting lineup boasted an OPS over .900 against Kelly, and yet he pitched 6.1 innings giving up only 3 hits without surrendering a single run. Simply put, this historic offense went quiet into the night when needed most.

"I'm not focused on me right now, I'm focused on the Dodgers...we have to find a way. All of us have to get going. We had a couple opportunities, we just didn't cash in." -- Mookie Betts on his struggles at the plate. #Dodgers
    9:52 PM · Oct 9, 2023 · 17.8K Views

    and therein lies the problem
how do you not see it, mookie?
in order for “the dodgers” to be successful, you need to be focused on yourself
you, as much as anyone, are “the dodgers”
if you fail, the team fails
so focusing on yourself is, essentially, focusing on “the dodgers”
really puzzling and disturbing that you don’t see this yourself

Seems like a leader who was struggling in the leadoff spot just might practice dropping a bunt to get on and start himself and a possible rally here and there?
Isn't that the kind of play davey got his name with?
    Really baffling

so is it “a lot of our guys” or just “some of our guys”?
    fucken idiot
    • “I think a lot of our guys have — some of our guys have been in this spot before as far as facing elimination,” Roberts said referencing the team coming back from down 3-1 to Atlanta in the 2020 NLCS. “I think we’ve just got to pitch better at times and take better at-bats. I think that we have the guys that can do it. And we’ve just got to take better team at-bats and win the next game, win Game 3. If we win Game 3 we’ll pick up the pieces and go from there. We’ve won three games in a row. We’re very familiar with this ballclub. They’re playing good baseball, and we’ve got to find a way to flip the script.”

As long as the win 95-100 regular season games and 3M show up, this is what we'll get because the front office loves that bottom line. As for Roberts, time to move on from him IMO. His rah-rah bullshit isn't motivating his team and he doesn't have the balls to call them out. We all know that Tommy wouldn't put up with this shit one bit. I expect them to show up for game 3, but it'll be too little too late.

whats funny is if a replay umpire didn't make a completely wrong ruling on a ball he hit April 1st, he would have hit that mark in early September. instead he slumped through the entire month. my sense was he had a really bad game against Max Fried vs Atlanta and he spiraled from there and never regained it.

Love Seager's production, but his injury history always made a long term, big money deal a huge risk.
