AJ Ellis doesn't have profesional at bats. He goes up there with no plan. Like in the ninth last night, a DP! WTF?

Make jokes all you want but Rivera is a GIDP and pop-up machine. I guess Uribe gives us professional at bats too then. Either way the job isn't getting done. Lol.

We just need to get through this last game before the break. Then our OF is coming back. And hopefully Ned dumps Uribe and gets a 3Bman. We could have a better team for the second half.

This post really belongs in the "I am confident as fuck" thread.

Who cares. We're at most a half game back at the break and we get Kemp and Ethier back.

Reductio ad absurdum brah. Simple modus ponens in the original argument:

    Premises:
    1. Rivera has poor ABs, e.g., he pops up and grounds into double plays often
    2. If he performs poorly, then he doesn't have a plan when he steps into the box
    3. If he doesn't have a plan when he steps into the box, then he lacks professionalism.
    C: Therefore, Rivera lacks professionalism.

Apply the same form to any other player and it becomes ridiculous. Fact is he's a mediocre, aging player, and we can't expect him to execute every single time.

the fact we're in the spot we're in with so many at bats given to Loney, Rivera, Uribe and Kennedy is pretty remarkable.
throw in Bills struggling, Kemp missing half the year, Ellis hurt a while and Ethier hurt a few weeks

can't wait for the break. we need it. we're about to kill this division the 2nd half :)

I'm not expecting Rivera to come through every time. I'll give you Mark Ellis for example. He can get hits by himself and also move runners over fundamentally (except for Friday lol). Rivera doesn't K a lot, so you can pretty much assume he's hitting the ball in play. But to have grounded into double digit DP's in 160 AB's is horrid. All I'm saying is he's a poor executer. For someone who doesn't strike out, he still finds a way to kill a rally; which, IMO is lack of professional AB's from a veteran. He's really not that bad of a hitter, and it's not like the guy is 40. He's one of the few people on this team that don't strikeout a good number of times. I used Friday to explain Rivera and got bashed for it. Any rational person knows the dude pops up to second or first base with runners on constantly or just DP's. Also, which I think is funny, is that I was just explaining why some people might be sick with him. Didn't think it was that big of a deal.

We need to stop using the "old", "aging", and "busted up" card too. He beat out Sands for the starting spot in left this year. We were expecting him to play a majority of the games and be a run producer like last year.

Looks like the Giants are gonna lose, another chance to stretch the lead back to 1.5.

I always considered Rivera a utility OF'er and nothing more. Not having a starting power type player in LF, or a hitting 1Bman has given this guy way too much responsibility. And, if we get a LF'er and a hitting 1Bman, Rivera goes back to where he belongs - the bench. If he can't handle the bench, then he must go away. Same with Abreu and Gwynn. So, come on Ned, fill out the roster so these guys can go back to where they belong.

So, let me get this straight.
This guy throwing a long toss 400 feet ot whatever is why Vinny has mentioned it over and over...? I mean the guy will probably shut us out- every schlub on every staff usually does- but this is the fabulous Bauer thing?
    Long toss?

If we could trade for Upton we absolutely should. Imagine him and Kemp in the outfield for the next 10 years. Wow

Capuano looks very low energy today. Looks very hittable. Very not going to last.
Anybody know why we can't see another look at that shot of Upton's off the fence? And how about no K box on a disputed pitch? Dodger broadcasts don't seem to give what other teams do, and it's not neccessarily anything so great.

Let's hope Capuano doesn't have many more 27 pitch innings.
