Andy McCullough @McCulloughTimes David Freese will start at first base in Game 1 against LHP Gio Gonzalez, Dave Roberts said. Max Muncy will come off the bench.
has to do that to create a ground ball double play seriously i guess i haven't been paying attn cause i thought he was doing reasonably well
MOTHERFUCKER!!!! I really like Freese but MOTHERFUCKER!!!!! Max Muncy needs to play every motherfucking snake on a motherfucking plane already.
good alternative to what actually was done...using him for more than one batter, if by some chance he didn't put him on or in RISP, would be about it. I guess he's figuring Wood can go longer, but imo, Wood is over for top of the staff type appearances. Meatball chef. He's really hit the dive claxon.
I fast forwarded through 6 hours of MLB Network programming last night...first off, 90 percent of the coverage was of the ALCS...fine, whatever. But the NLCS coverage was 100 percent from the Brewers perspective. Every interview was with a Brewer or Brewer beat reporter. Every conversation in studio about the series was about the Brewers and how they will approach the series. Just turned on MLB Network and the girl hosting the show literally said, "What are you most excited about for this Brewers series" lol Whatever. Fuck the system!
Freese hits righties just as well as he hits lefties Muncy hits lefties just fine, if not the same as righties I don't get that platoon at all. Freese should be an ace in the hole later in the game, imo.
4 at-bats better than 1. We all love Max but I'll take my chances with Freeze during play-off season.
I hear you and agree on the 4 ABs, but here's my fear: MIL pulls their starter after three and Roberts corresponds with Muncy for Freese. Fast forward to the 8th or 9th inning and we need a PH for a high-leverage situation against the lefty Hader. Roberts looks down his bench and sees Puig, Joc, and Barnes. See the dilemma?
funny i suggested urias on the lds roster and got ripped whatev, no big as for yelich... talk about small margins for error
That is why people that are picking the Dodgers think they have the advantage when they head home for the 3 straight. Apparently his velocity takes a noticeable drop when he is used on consecutive days. It is why Counsell has leaned on him for more than an inning at a time on the first day and when he has had to use him in the second game, he gets one maybe two batters. Legit shocked by this. The team is obviously seeing something in the side sessions, but man this is an odd move to me. SSS for sure, but his pitches were noticeably flatter as he tried to ramp up the velo in those 12+ run lead games. One thing I was thinking about since he could probably only be used once in this series and no chance would they go to him against the Astros is that he is here for a "break glass in case of emergency" game where a starter can't get out of his own way. They go to Urias to eat 3+ innings and then, "oh no, he is hurt!" they pull him and he is replaced by Strip or Alexander again. Alexander was supposed to be a big piece for us this year, but in the big moments, he has found just too much of the plate or lost it entirely. Not shocked that he was replaced, just surprised by who he was replaced with.
I wish muncy was capable of playing 2B I do think this is one game I would’ve actually started Dozier over Bellinger to be honest. Bellinger has looked AWFUL and Gio seems like a bad matchup for him Anyways, easy for me to say, but the dodgers can’t be thinking about what comes later in the game and just have good at bats. Take your walks, then someone can pop a home run. Let’s go
Yeah, I was about to post the other day how many issues would be resolved if Muncy was more capable of playing second base. Not just this year but in the future
