Kind of a no trade clause because what team would want to take that chance unless they want a possible rental.
I doubt he opts out. No one (except maybe the Yankees) will match the $71 million he will have remaining from us. And if he does opt out, we can easily replace him with the money we would save or be the ones to sign him to a new contact.
...its a good move on Grienke's part but no reason to get butthurt or to think he'll be loyal, just ask Arte Moreno...
That is actually the absolute perfect situation for the Dodgers. PERFECT. In order to opt out, he will have had to prove he is worth more or a a longer contract. Thus, he will have pitched well. The 2015 FA pitcher class could be SICK. Look at who could be there if they are not given an extension. We, in essence are merely trading Zack for one of those guys who is younger. Also, three to four years is our projected window for winning it all. This gives our farm time to improve and stabilize. Butthurt? I am fucking thrilled about it.
That's what happens when you roll with the big boys... Better 'at least' make the playoffs every year for a decade...
As long as we don't turn into the Eagles or Lakers of the MLB. All hype, no results. But I really do think we win 90+ next year
a tad harsh though accurate early... but its early... way too early to lump the Lakers into any comparison with the Eagles... waaaaay early... but I do agree that the Lakers need to gel better, play better D etc but until Nash returns nothing matters so... However make no mistake the Dodgers are now WIDE OPEN as prime ridicule target NUMERO UNO the same, or worse, than the Yankees. We MUST perform. And I completely agree that we need to win 90+ but now that alone will not suffice... we'll now need nothing less than penants... and ultimately be measured only by rings... which is the true bottom line anyways now isn't it? GG it appears is stepping up to the plate. Thank you GG...
Well, I made the comparison based on the Lakers THIS season, obviously. It is early, no doubt, but I simply can't picture the Lakers beating OKC or SA in the playoffs and that is the whole reason they acquired Howard and Nash. Howard's inability to shoot FTs, the lack of 3 pt shooting, the poor defense, blaming Gasol for everything, Nash's inability to stay healthy so far, etc. So many issues right now, and I am a Lakers fan, so I hope they turn it around. But I can't picture them winning a round right now.
suck on it bkitches!!! Zack Greinke Signing Reaction By Edward Creech [December 9 at 3:00pm CST] Zack Greinke's record-setting six-year, $147MM contract with the Dodgers will have a ripple effect throughout baseball. MLB.com's Peter Gammons lists five things to watch for in the aftermath of Greinke's signing including what kind of deal will Casey Close, who represents both Greinke and his new teammate Clayton Kershaw, be able to negotiate for the young left-hander. Other aftershocks include: The Rays may be in a better position to deal one of their starting pitchers, as their value should be enhanced in talks with the Rangers, Royals, Diamondbacks, Rockies, or whichever other teams are interested, according to the Tampa Bay Times' Marc Topkin. After losing out on Greinke, the Rangers will turn their attention to R.A. Dickey, James Shields, and possibly Anibal Sanchez, writes Richard Durrett of ESPNDallas.com. Rangers GM Jon Daniels told reporters, including T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com, "We'd like to add to our starting depth and we'd like to acquire an impact guy. But we're not casting a wide net to add a starter at any cost." The Tigers are affected both short-term and long-term, opines MLB.com's Jason Beck. Short-term, the Tigers could benefit because the Greinke signing should take the Dodgers out of the bidding for Sanchez and no other suitor for the right-hander has such superior financial resources. Long-term, potential contract extensions for Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer (represented by SFX and Scott Boras, respectively, according to MLBTR's Agency Database) could become much more expensive. Earlier today, we learned how one executive believes the entire economic landscape of the game is going to change drastically because of the Dodgers' spending. And, the Greinke signing will not allay those fears.
Fuck every other owner. These bitches did NOTHING when it was obvious that SF was injecting their players to win. FUCK YOU. You want to call this unfair, fuck you. You want to say that the scales are tipped, fuck you. At least we are not encouraging our players to cheat the testing system and then feigning shock when it happens. You motherfuckers knew this was going on (a fucking blind man could see it) and you allowed it because it put asses in the seats and dollars in your pockets. Well, fuck you. Same result with the asses and dollars and this time it will be us making you look stupid.
