Mets asked Brewers for permission to speak with Craig Counsel.

What's wrong with Dave Roberts? Why don't any teams want to talk with him? Any other teams still need a manager?

    Please?

Do we have the dumbest collection of coaches and front office staff?

I don't know if this was posted elsewhere, but apparently Peralta just had surgery for an elbow issue. I guess he had been playing through it since around the ASG, and his second half numbers were absolute trash...yet we kept playing him? I don't think it takes a fucking rocket scientist to put two and two together and suggest that maybe after a few weeks to a month of struggling, you should probably go on the IL or get that surgery now. Instead, we just let him play and be one of the best offensive performers in the second half, no big deal.

Max Muncy Credits Dave Roberts For Handling Postseason Eliminations
    https://dodgerblue.com/dodgers-news...-handling-postseason-eliminations/2023/10/24/

The title speaks volumes. You don't even need to read the article. What does it tell us?

    1. Dave Roberts has become very good at handling losing in October. Is this a good thing? Hell no! He's essentially become the girl in the phrase, "Always the bridesmaid, never the bride." I bet she's learned to be a fantastic bridesmaid... and that's NOT something to be proud of. Neither is collecting playoff defeats.

    2. Dave Roberts is coddling the players after the disappointment, helping them to accept it and deal with the failure. That's great to have an empathetic man at the post like that, makes me feel warm and fuzzy... NOT! Can you imagine Billy Martin, Lasorda, Stengel or Larusa letting the players off the hook like that?!? I want the manager to call a meeting and rip every player a new asshole, while at the same time holding himself accountable. Make sure they come in fired up for next year.

    3. The players (using Muncy as a proxy) like the way Roberts treats them after a major failure. Where's the team leader who tells Roberts, "SFFU! We failed and deserve to stew over this all offseason, and we need to remember it and play raging mad next year and carry it over to the playoffs?

And by the way, Friedman essentially signs off on this mentality by giving Roberts pass after pass.

is it possibly an ultimate troll?
sooner or later someone has to speak out don't they?
but have they ever in baseball because it seems like its always an oblique obscure "no comment"
not a fan but at least Scherzer told him to keep his hand off his ass

Max was under .200 for most of the season and Dave kept batting him cleanup. Of course Mr. Twinkie loves him

    • According to Opta Stats, the Rangers and Diamondbacks combined for a .537 winning percentage in the regular season. It's the lowest winning percentage by the teams reaching the finals in MLB, NBA, NFL or NHL since the 1991 Stanley Cup Final between the Penguins and North Stars.
