kiss of death expect JD to be done for the season “I don’t think J.D. will need to go on the IL,” Roberts said. “I think we’ve dealt with this all year, even throughout spring training. So it might be some type of shot. And then he’ll be down for a couple days, and our expectation is he should be back sometime this weekend.”
I've read his quotes about what makes this team better than last year despite the win differential, and I can't help but to think, yeah but they still have the same guy at the top who will get outmanaged in October.
i'm just encouraged that at least i see him doing some things he's never done in the past maybe he's just allowing players more latitude to do fundamental stuff or steal bases idk but as you say he's clearly blinded by his own perceived greatness and those are just words he thinks sound good
incredible stat but it doesn’t mean shit if you don’t win it all fuckhead has had some of the best dodger teams ever, and managed but one covid shortened title pretty impressive to get so little from so much OptaSTATS@OptaSTATS The @Dodgers in August: 2020: 21-7 (.750) 2021: 21-6 (.778) 2022: 22-6 (.786) 2023: 23-4 (.852) The only other team in MLB history to have a .750+ winning percentage in the same month 4 years in a row (min. 10 games) was the Chicago White Stockings in June from 1878 to 1881. 10:10 PM · Aug 29, 2023 · 233.4K Views
My thoughts exactly. This team does some impressive stuff in the regular season. I could totally see us winning 105 games this year... and losing to the Brewers, for example, in the NLDS. Just like last year when we owned San Diego during the season, and then got blindsided in the playoffs. Davey gets heaps of praise for all the wins every year, but when are people going to see that he's in over his head when the lights get brighter?
The people that need to see that about him are the people that allow it to continue, to fester, and to demoralize the fans for about a decade now. The people who pay him and lionize him, and who are the only ones who can do anything at all about it, but just refuse to. I think it's written in stone that it will go on and on...
I thought I'd put this here. In the post game today Roberts was spouting off on how he was going to let Pepiot go the distance while the perfect game was intact. I call bullshit based on his MO and I found this article that covers the four times he's pulled a starter who had a NH or PG going. https://m.startribune.com/dodgers-m...urth time, innings, according to Stats Perform. BTW, I didn't realize that there've been only two occasions since 1901 that a manager pulled a starter in the midst of a perfect game through seven innings or more... and they were BOTH Roberts. In the article, he calls two of his early pulls "no brainers." That's one too many syllables. The better explanation would've been "no brain."
The Dodgers pushed back Clayton Kershaw’s next start again, this time until Saturday after having previously pushed him back from Monday to Friday. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts continued to stress that the decision was match-up driven and had nothing to do with injury. if it’s matchup driven then why the need to push him back again? more roberts bullshit, and with his history of kiss-of-death statements i wouldn’t be surprised if kersh is done for good
Good call. Phillips hasn’t been himself lately. Coincidence? IMO it wouldn’t be a bad idea to let Brasier close a couple of these final games out.
Yeah...I was thinkng that Brasier has been used for one specifically most important out of the game. Albiet successfully, but surely he can go more than one.
Hell, let Vesia close these final games out for all I care - they're meaningless. Just get Phillips some rest.
Somebody put a damn padlock on the wildcard thread, so I have to post here. Hoping that PHI and ARI win. Despite our past success against the Brewers, I just don't want to face their pitchers. And I want the Phillies to stretch the Braves, hopefully to seven.
