This team has taken on the spirit of the Puig. The Dodgers are a Wild Stallion. Fucking shit up wherever they go.
Puigs problem is also his main asset. His heart. Puig wants to be The Man every night. Not -merely- because of the personal acclaim but because he cares way too much about the game. The game not The Game, you know what I mean? In the OF he wants to be the captain, the guy that makes the big play with his arm glove or legs running jumping diving for a big play. In his mind he probably feels like he's both the RF and CF. That is awesome. He is the same with the bat. But with the bat that can easily lead to bat habits that make you feast or famine/streaky. Then the streaks become slumps and now you are fucked. And to get out of it you end up trying to win the game with one at bat way too much and you become more and more predictable to the pitchers who can lead you around the strike zone until you become an easy out to their experience and command. But it looks like Puig has come out the other side unscathed.
puig has come [back] full circle his maturity has impressed me as much as anything wasn't sure he'd get back to this level in fact, i was pretty sure he wouldn't glad i'm being proven wrong
This team is special. The things they are doing with the mix of vets and youngins has done some dramatic things. The game tonight is just another chapter in what has become a special season for them and us fans.On a night when things weren't going to well on the mound. some stepped the f**k up late to pull another win away from an opponent in what should've been a loss. As it unfolded before my eyes 2 things happened, it made my nipples hard and tears roll down my face. Not that the Jim Beam had anything to do with it. DAMN, I love this team!
Darvish's back stiffness probably explains his pathetic efforts at the plate, especially last night. Like to brush this off as nothing, but there has to be some concern. Curious if this has been a problem in the past for him.
Shut down and watched from bed...never thought it would end like it did. Storybook stuff. I had posted earlier last night "good 'ol fucking Forsythe" twice, once for the DP with RISP, another for his bobble on a tailor made DP ball... Well before it was over, it was " good 'ol fucking Forsythe" again...but this time he came through big. Following good ol Bellinger, and preceding good ol Barnes, and of course, good ol Puig. Magic shit. Hollywood script shit. Randy Newman, soul elevating music swelling up like The Natural. They say "there's no crying on baseball"... that's a great line indeed in that movie...but if what happened last night didn't at least pop a tear, then, check your pulse, or your one of the " casual fans", which imo, just aren't on DSP in the first place.
How about Renteria and that farcical 9th inning cluster fuck he pulled off. With those tiny steps he takes, all he needed was a bass drum strapped on him like they do in a marching band, and a Mother's Day uni, to complete the Energizer Bunny look. It turned out, it was just prolonging the inevitable.
Had to call it an early night and just watched the replay. Unreal. I would have been so quick to give up in the past if we were down 2 in the 9th but this team has me believing any comeback is possible
In years past I would have turned last night's game off, but this year it genuinely feels like you are going to miss something if you do.
